Place the music on music folder, also use the format that supported by your phone. Also try to place the music on your phone memory, if detected then it should be your external memory problem.
i think it should restart if it does not work yet.so power on the handset & type *#7780# -> continue->security codes=12345 and click ok. The phone will restart & it may fix the problem.
em well mate im not sure but if you go to ur music player and get into options there are settings like for your equiliser! turn it to general it might be on a setting thats got ur speakers playing all funny hope this helps!
