My newly installed dishwasher won't drain, what could be the cause?

We did only one cycle, and it couldn't drain, so I would be surprised if it's a clogged drain problem. Another thing, the right support in the front isn't keeping his correct height, so the dishwasher doesn't stay at level. When we put it at level, we hear a sound, but it doesn't drain nevertheless. Finally, the dishwasher is stuck on his cycle because it won't drain.

If the dishwasher is connected to a spigot on the waste under the sink, check that the end has been cut off the spigot (on the plumbing not the machine hose) or that end stoppers have been removed. Also, check the hose has not been crushed when installed.

SOURCE: Dishwasher wont finish cycle

I have experienced this problem before and it turned out to be the main control board in the console. Not a cheap fix, either. The control boards are not serviceable, and can run over $100. Sorry, I hope I was of some help.

Probably the aquastop (if you have one). We have a similar problem after our owerflow. The dishwasher is starting and running through the programs but no water is coming.

SOURCE: Dishwasher will not finish the cycle. Display will

Hello, welcome to Fixya. I know this post is a few days old, but in the event you haven't found a solution yet I'll throw my 2 cents into it. I suspect the "1" is actually an error code and not coincidentally the reason it doesn't dry. Here`s the most likely reason why it has detected the error... Even if your home water supply appears hot, it's not hot enough and must be heated by the dishwasher to insure a proper clean and dry, hence most if not all manufacturer`s do this. When it comes to your Bosch dishwasher the problem likely lye`s within`the electronic timer/control, specifically the heater relay solder joint. ( a faulty flow switch, ntc or heater can also cause this, but not very probable ). To repair your unit It will require you to remove the control from the unit and then remove the control from it`s plastic housing and look for a burnt solder contact on the printed circuit board. This will be one of the pins from the heater relay, hence the unit sit`s and display`s the error "1" telling you it can`t heat the water. ( I can send you documentation directly from B/S/H/ confirming and explaining this if you'd like to post your email address ). **Further to this, if you or someone you know is proficient at soldering, a lot of times it can be remedied by simply repairing the solder...although Bosch recommend`s replacing the control and I don`t pretend to speak on their behalf nor do I profess to know better. This is just my experience (it work`s) and my opinion (why buy new if one can repair ?)** **Please disconnect the power before attempting any service to the dishwasher** Installing a new control will certainly remedy the problem as well. But when it is priced at about $170.00 I am more likely to offer someone an alternative to buying new, hence my first reaction to mention this repair tidbit. The control is available at most brick & mortar appliance parts stores or on-line at vendors such as "repairclinic.com", "apwagner.com", "searspartsdirect.com" etc. part number is based on your specific model number so you`ll need to provide that. Hope this answer`s your question's, let me know if I can assist you further. Thank`s for visiting "fixya" for your repair inquiries. Please take a moment and rate this solution to it's helpfulness to you and leave a testimony if you're satisfied. Good luck. macmarkus :)

Maytag dishwasher won't drain

Drainage problem of some sort is usually the cause. Could be blockage before your drain pump, in your drain pump, or in your drain hose. One possibility is that you just installed a garbage disposal and forgot to remove the "knock-out" plug for the dishwasher drain line. Another cause can be that you have not looped your dishwasher drainline under your sink and water from your sink is flowing back into you dishwasher. You must attach your dishwasher drain line under your sink so it is higher then your sink drain lines, creating a trap for your dishwasher. Your drain sump could be plugged, not letting the water get to your drain pump easily. This is caused by not getting loose or hard debris off your dishes before putting them in the unit. Also make sure your drain pump is getting the right voltage when it is supposed to.God bless youfa618d8b-d0fd-412a-b0d5-a88d44bf89d3.giffb1320dc-7bec-4cb0-98ed-c24cf54e5e3b.jpg

Belt, Water Pump Although few dishwashers have a water pump belt, if the dishwasher won't drain there might be a worn or broken water pump belt. After removing the lower kick panel the motor can be seen in the front, the water pump belt is on the bottom of the motor.

Drain Pump If the dishwasher won't drain, the drain pump might be defective. Test the pump motor with an Ohm meter. Drain pumps are not repairable, if it's defective it will need to be replaced.

Drain Impeller The drain impeller is attached to the pump and pushes the water out of the dishwasher, through the drain tube and into the garbage disposer or drain line. If the dishwasher won't drain, the drain impeller might be broken or worn out. Replace both the impeller and seal at the same time.

Drain Solenoid Kit If the dishwasher won't drain, the drain solenoid kit might need to be replaced. The drain solenoid is an actuator that opens a flap to allow the water to drain.
Drain Valve The drain valve can get clogged with debris and should be cleaned out if the dishwasher won't drain. If it seems clear of debris but won't actuate, it will need to be replaced. The drain valve is not repairable Pump and Motor Assembly If the dishwasher won't drain, the pump and motor assembly might be defective. If the motor runs during the drain cycle, check for a blockage in the drain line. If the motor won't run during the drain cycle or if it just hums when it should be running, the pump and motor assembly might need to be replaced.

Clogged or Improperly Installed Garbage Disposer If the dishwasher won't drain and the garbage disposer was installed recently, the installer might have forgotten to knock out the drain plug from this disposer. All garbage disposers are sold with a solid plug in the drain tube for situations where a dishwasher isn't connected. However, if the dishwasher is connected, the plug will need to be removed. If the disposer wasn't replaced recently, remove the dishwasher drain hose from the disposer and clean out both the fitting on the disposer and the end of the drain hose. These are the most common places to find an obstruction if the dishwasher won't drain.

Whirlpool gu1200xtls2 wont drain just stopped

Hello

your Whirlpool dishwasher stopped draining mid-cycle, check your circuit breaker or fuses. The cycle won't complete if the power is interrupted. Reset the circuit breaker if tripped, or change out any blown fuses. Fully close the dishwasher door, and restart the cycle if you opened up the door. If you have not used the dishwasher in a while, the motor may be stuck. Open up the main housing, and rotate the motor until it turns freely. You must replace the motor if it's corroded or won't move since it's unlikely that you can fix it.

Pump

The pump is located underneath the lower rack and spray arm. This component is responsible for pumping water out of the dishwasher once the cycle is complete. If the pump isn't working, verify that it is not clogged with debris. Use a toothpick or plastic utensil to remove food particles from it. Check the pump impeller. If a section of it is broken, get a new pump since the impeller is difficult to fix.

Clogs

Clogs in the air gap or drainage hose prevent water from leaving the tub. Clean these components and the water inlet filters, if dirty. Examine the drainage hose, and straighten it if it's kinked. If the hose is badly crushed, you must replace it. Unscrew the drainage hose from the dishwasher to clean it, but reattach it before you restart the cycle. Run the food waste disposer if it's connected to your Whirlpool dishwasher. Remove the knockout plug from the disposer if you have just installed the disposer or dishwasher.

Drain Valve/High Drain Loop

Whirlpool dishwashers have drain valves with an internal solenoid. This valve opens and closes to drain water out of the tub. If the drain valve is stuck, lubricate the lever, and remove any debris clogging the valve. Remove any objects that are preventing the drain valve from freely opening and closing. If the valve is not working properly, you must replace it. Always install a high drain loop to prevent water from the sink entering your dishwasher. Create a loop of the drainage hose that is at least 18 inches high. Attach this hose beneath a section of cabinetry.

Won't drain after rinse cycle.

Hi
Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. First make sure that the drain is not clogged and remove clogs if present. If no visible lint is present then remove the lower front access panel to check the drain filter and drain pump for any clogs, you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump completely. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller & clean the chopper assembly. Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

The dishwasher makes a noise only during the drain cycle.

If the valve opening sound & pump sound ignore it. If the sound was not there earlier and it is newly heard now check the drain water pump.
