Question about Dell PowerEdge T300 Server
My Dell T300 (w/ Windows 2008 Server) is acting very weird, every couple days or every other day, the server all of the sudden reboots. This server normally during POST the fans speed up really high for few seconds and slow down to normal speed, but whenever the server has a sudden reboot, it stay stuck at the fan high speed for couple minutes with nothing on the screen, then it proceed to POST and everything goes back to normal, but last weekend the server got stuck on high speed fan for 2 days, nothing on the screen, had to pull the plug, and plug it again to work. I have looked into windows log and has absolutely no information why it's rebooting, only thing it says, the server had an unexpected shutdown, that's all. I ran all the hardware diagnostic tools provided on Dell server CD and everything passed with no problem. What could it be the problem??? Power supply maybe??? Thank you.
First, go to Dell's website and update all the firmware and install the latest version of Dell Server Administrator. DSA has logs information not logged by Windows. Next, take it outside and blast the fans with compressed air, make sure all components and cables are properly seated in their slots/sockets, turn it on with the cover off and make sure all the fans are spinning. Many servers will increase the fan speed if they detect the cover is off so this is another possible cause to the problem.
Finally, Dell servers have lifetime support, this number should work: (800) 945-3355
BTW: A temporary workaround might be to use a network controlled outlet that you can remotely turn off and on. Your UPS might be able to turn outlets on and off or you could get a stand alone network controlled outlet. Some can actually ping the device and turn power off and on again if it stops replying to pings. (E.g. IP Power EV-9255 IP http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1470N64280)

You will need the drivers for them i had a similar problem
insted of reinstalling windows i got a very old taty keyboard and mose from a windows 95 pc
and used them till i got and installed the drivers for them.

assume power supply is failing or overheating, suggest replace power supply for new one or one with higher power rating to cope with power demand.
