My clutch goes straight to the floor with no resistance

When i tried to bleed them, only a little air comes out. plenty of fluid down to the clutch pump on the pedal but nothing after that. also, what is the device that is connected to the pump between the slave cylinder and pump.

i think youre doing the right thing. they are very stubborn to bleed because the hyd. line goes up high across back of engine before droppiing back down to slave cyl., trapping air. could try to gravity bleed by opening bleeder at slave, cap off of master cyl, full with fluid then it may start to come out after a bit. then try your process again. or can try to bleed at connections further up the line, working your way back to bleeder. hope this helps. be patient.

did you try to take line off at slave cyl. and see if fluid comes from resavor? also take bleeder out and see if holes are pluged up in bleeder. if all this chks. out ok than its got to be slave cyl. they have been known to go bad. just that quick too.

did you bleed the clutch? there's a bleeder nut/bolt on the slave cylinder. have someone pump up the cluth and hold, then loosen nut/bolt and air will come out. repeat process untill pedal has resistance and good fluid coming from bleeder. make sure to top of fluid during process, if you run it dry, you have to repeat the whole process again. note, i'm assuming this due to my experince on other vechiles, never worked on an isuzu before. but had the same issue on others.

It sounds like you need to bleed the system there should be a fitting on to slave cylinder near the fluid line you need two people one to push the pedel and one to open and close the bleederYou need to get all of the air out of the system check to see if you see fluid leaking anywhere in the whole system because if fluid is leaking out air is leaking in and you will never get all of the air out of the system put a clear tube on the fitting and put the other end in a clear plastic bottle like a soda or water with some brake fluid in it thats what you use for the chuch system hope this helps

look at the clutch arm but i have one of these cars and it has a cable ,never seen one with hydraulic operated one

2006 Mercury Mountaineer.. brakes going down to floor. Brakes have been replaced

I use a vacuum pump to bleed lines stating pass rear drivers rear pass front then drivers front. ensure the the brake fluid reservoir never goes lo low, or you will introduce air into system. Purchase plenty of fluid and draw out all the old fluid. It will be replaced by new fluid. Sound like you have air in system

New clutch installed. No pedal, stays on floor unless I bring it back up with my hand. No resistance.

`Did it bleed, did fluid come out in a steady stream? Isn't there a spring to bring the pedal off the floor?
Check the linkage of the pedal to rod to the clutch master cylinder, make sure that is all together. Any chance the master has an internal leak and won't build hydraulic pressure down at the slave? If you get it bled, then watch the slave operation while someone works the clutch pedal. The piston on the slave should extend and push the clutch fork enough to disengage the clutch.

If the clutch is hydraulic operated, you need to bleed the clutch at the slave cylinder, down on the transmission housing. Bleed it just like you bleed brakes of air in the line-open bleeder valve, someone pushes clutch pedal slowly to floor, close valve, and repeat until fluid comes out valve in a steady stream. Make sure the clutch reservoir is full before starting. It uses regular brake fluid.
If not hydraulic, it would be cable operated. Adjust the cable until clutch pedal is right.

Your clutch fluid reservoir may need brake fluid-yes, it uses brake fluid as a hydraulic fluid. Check reservoir on the firewall. It will sit beside the brake master cylinder. The reservoir sits atop the clutch master cylinder.
If it was dry, the clutch may need bleeding down at the slave cylinder on the transmission housing-where the clutch fork sticks out of the transaxle.. Open the bleed valve on the slave cylinder, and have someone slowly press clutch down. Keep bleeding until a steady stream of fluid comes out when clutch is pressed. Then close bleed valve, check clutch operation-pedal should have some pressure on it now.

Have 90 toyota 4runner just replaced slave cylinder plenty of fluid but the clutch pedal just flops around no resistence either way. any answers?

Hello, try opening the bleeder valve on the slave cylinder, leave it open, pull the pedal up and then pump the pedal down and pull it up repeatedly until you feel some pressure, close the valve and try bleeding the rest of the air out in the normal manner.

Hi, I've got the same problem. They run on brake fluid not cable. I started to bleed the
Clutch to adjust the bite point but after one bleed the pedal went to the floor and can't get it back. Tried pressure bleeding it but seems to be no fluid coming out of the bleed nipple. No leaks. Can any one help??

Hard time shifting. replaced clutch slave cylinder. still shifts hard. plenty of clutch fluid.

Sometimes the slave cylinder takes a little extra bleeding to remove the air in it & until it's all gone, the clutch won't open completely, causing the problem you are describing.

If the shifting can be done between all of the gears while the engine isn't running on level ground then the forks should be ok & not bent inside the transmission and you should be able to get the car to shift properly.

I've done several of these and found that if you start by making sure the Clutch Master cylinder is full, and remember when you add fluid, try to add without aerating the fluid. Pouring down the side of a funnel is better than pouring straight into the container as fluid picks up air during the splash. Hopefully doing it this way will prevent small new air bubbles from getting back into the lines when bleeding.

Next, after having one person pump the clutch pedal quickly 3 or 4 times & continuing to hold the pedal to the floor until you've completed this phase, instead of just releasing the pressure through the bleeder valve, also push on the clutch fork/rod to go ahead & force the fluid completely out of the slave cylinder, tighten the bleeder and have the assistant slowly pump the pedal to bring the slave cylinder back into contact to where it was before you pushed it to drain it. Refill & bleed as usual a couple of times. If you don't have a good clutch pedal now with good release, you need to check the Clutch Master Cyliinder since once the bleeding is done, this is a completely automatically adjusting system. good luck
