Question about RCA RS2531 CD Shelf System

RCA RS2531 display says Overload and won't function

RCA RS2531 display says Overload and now the system does function. I tried unplugging and plugging with no results.

Thanks for the advice, unfortunately it didn't solve the problem.

Start by disconnecting the speakers, turn the volume to minimum, and see if the unit still shuts down. You might have a shorted speaker or wire. If the trouble continues, either the amplifier integrated circuit has gone bad, or some other component failure is activating the shutdown. I can't suggest any specific parts you might check because many things can cause the same symptoms. You'll need to have the unit looked at by a commercial servicer.

The internal fuse probably blew. That doesn't tell you why, but the power supply circuits are most likely the cause.

Unit won't turn on

If the overload indicator is lit, the most likely cause is there are more devices plugged into the UPS than is can support. Try unplugging all devices but one and see if the unit functions normally.

You can then try to figure out how many is too many.

How to connect RCA powered super woofer to RCA RS2531? The system is working with headphones but how ever I tried to connect the speakers there is no sound.

Only one way will work and it's in the manual, page 2.

take it apart and clean it. most likely dust, a cd, or something got jammed inside

Only standby light comes on

Its been happening a lot to this type of systems from RCA I unplug mine and it starts working(sometimes) Im going to retun the darn thing.

Yea try plugging it into another wall socket, if it's still humming could be a damaged transformer. or bad capacitor.

Can't get the cd door to open

mine did the same...with mine it was because one of the cd's came out of the carriage inside the unit... i popped of the see-through top on the unit, put the cd's properly in the carriage and it opened right away... it may say "error" on the front screen

I have a similar stereo system and accidentally put two CD's in one tray and it got stuck and could not open. What I did was unplug everything from the unit and took off the side panel. After some careful fiddling I got it to open. You could try something like that.

overload is the unit letting you konw that there is a problem with the speakers,speaker wires (shorted), or most likely that the audio output ic in the unit is bad. typical price on this part is around $15 to $40.00. the part is a little had to get to replace.\ good luck
