Temperature Display, Clicking Intermittent, Lost all Cooling

GE Profile Model PDS22SBSARSS 15.21 cu ft fridge, 7.01 cu ft freezer = 22.2 cu ft total fridge top / freezer bottom Approx 2.5 years old The temperature display worked intermittently for a couple of weeks. Then clicking began, usually lasting about 20 min. After a couple of weeks, clicking went on longer longer, eventually through a night... only to find fridge had no more cooling (fridge/freezer both) in the morning. It seems to be trying to run.... it clicks and does some sort of attempt at a start up whir but doesn't get anywhere. Is this something I can fix on my own? I read another post about someone changing a 'board'? If so, how savvy to do I have to be? (So many questions.) I am hoping to save a big repair bill! - signed, single mom on a budget All help appreciated. Thanks in advance! :)

Unplug the fridge and turn it around so you can see the compressor, does it have a capacitor located on the compressor (a round cylinder with wires comming out of it going to the compressor) it sounds like that could be your problem. They are pretty easy to change just a couple of wiers, just take note of where they go when you take it out. Make sure its unplugged from the wall before you do anything!

Not working

If the clicking sound is coming from the back of the refrigerator at the compressor, you have a faulty starting device or faulty compressor. The compressor has a 5 year warranty so call to have someone out if you can.
