2005 gm delco radio, cd/cassette player rds model...how to unlock

This unit was purchased on e-bay for a 2005 buick rendezvous, as stated in the ebay ad, for that model...but after installation, the face reads LOCKED. Is the fact it states RDS on the face a problem? How do I unlock the radio??

Thanks in advance for your help.

I recall having seen this problem posted by another and I think you are stuck going to the dealer (with proof that you didn't rip it out of someone else's dashboard) to get it unlocked. This is one of those things done to ding accessory thieves that often bites original owners after battery changes/failures.

Unlocking a delco rds radio

Check your owners manual - there may be a default code and instructions.. However, many GM entertainment systems are locked to the VIN and you will probably need a dealer to reset it.

Lost sound on 2005 impala. radio works. seems like amp problem.

Do you have base or up;level system ?

Table 1: Radio Features
Table 2: Cassette Features
Table 3: Compact Disc Features
Table 4: XM Advisory Messages
The radio receives power from the RADIO fuse in the junction block-right I/P. Ground is provided via G201 and G202. The radio is enabled/disabled by class 2 messages from the body control module (BCM). The radio routes audio signals from the digital radio receiver or the vehicle communication interface module (VCIM) to the speakers and/or amplifier when directed by class 2 messages.
The Entertainment System on this vehicle is configured with an AM/FM stereo radio with the radio data system (RDS) and either a cassette player or a CD player or both. CD and cassette. The uplevel system provides the customer with extended range speakers and an audio amplifier. Satellite digital radio (U2K) is available with uplevel systems.
The following list shows the radios available for this vehicle:
• Radio (ULO) - AM/FM Stereo, Cassette with RDS
• Radio (UNO) - AM/FM Stereo, CD and RDS
• Radio (UPO) - AM/FM Stereo, Cassette with CD and RDS .The complexity of the radio systems on these vehicle is mind blowing .

Your best bet take it to a GM dealer , has features you are unawear of .
DTC B1025, B1035, B1045, or B1055
When the radio is powered up, the radio supplies low level audio signals to the speakers. If the vehicle is equipped with an audio amplifier, the amplifier will boost the signal sent to the speakers.
DTC B1025 Audio Output Circuit
Install a scan tool.
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
With the scan tool, monitor the DTC Information for DTC B1025.
Does the scan tool indicate that DTC B1025 is current?

I have a Buick Rendezvous and I was wondering if its possible to put and single-din stereo in this car. The cassette and cd stopped working and I would like to fix it or change it.

Yes it is possible to put a single din radio in this car. Simplest way is to go on Ebay and order a single din radio fill-in kit and a factory radio wiring plug adaptor for the vehicle. Make sure you order it for the exact year make and model to be sure you have the right installation setup.

The cd player in my 05 trailblazer keeps spitting the cd's out and saying check disk. I've tried a cleaning disk but that didn't work

Sorry to say there is no fixing this unit. GM struck a deal with Panasonic to supply CD players for their DELCO radios. Panasonic is not releasing any parts for this unit so you can either find one at a salvage yard or on ebay, craigslist, etc... They are basically a "throw-away" unit.

Radio works ok. Cassette ejects tape, won't play. Cd skips/hesitates but plays. Panasonic 6 disc changer(factory installed) will not recognize cds. It gets err 1 msg. Would replacing the battery cause...

No, replacing the battery is not your problem. Must be pure coincidence..
Tape is ejecting because the deck is faulty. Either a broken belt or a broken plastic gear assembly. CD players in this model were made by SONY and are troublesome. Rather than trying to get someone to fix it, go to your local salvage yard and see what they have. They are for sale on ebay also. They are basically "throw-away" units as SONY struck a deal with GM and GM can't supply replacement parts. PLUS... there aren't too mnay shops around that fix these units.

Will the wireing from a 2005 chev radio cassette

It will work as long as it's for a GM cd radio but as mentioned it will have to be re-programmed by the dealer.

If it's an aftermarket cd player, you'll require a separate module harness with a relay circuit for the airbags and tach information to function. Or you can purchase a re-location kit which allows you to locate your factory radio into your trunk to hold those funtions. The re-location kit is a fair bit cheaper than the module. It's stupid that GM would design a system like that but that's what you'd need.
