Just disassembled one today, and it wasn't easy. There's a large washer with four tabs between the two assemblies. Insert a screwdriver into the space between it and the gear box, so you're prying metal to metal, and pry for all you're worth, moving from one tab to another. It'll eventually pop loose, and leave a few marks.... One of the two ears on the rocker is broken, so it'll mean a new gearbox for me.
if Sony Remote RM-YD035 does not change channels or turn off TV, the buttons got dirty coz those are you most used buttons.
You can repair Sony Remote RM-YD035 yourself. It's quite easy and fast, with perfect result!
To disassemble or open the remote control Sony RM-YD035, first remove a single screw in the battery compartment. Then use a very thin but strong screwdriver and insert it between top cover and the body at the back part of the battery compartment. Move the screwdriver up and down and slowly move it to the left and to the right and continue along the perimeter. Use two or three such screwdrivers and in 2-4 minutes the top cover plate with buttons will separate from the body/bottom/casing.
Clean both parts thoroughly. And then gently put them back together in the opposite order. The parts will snap closing.
My remote wasn't working until I programmed it to work with itself ... (how odd it wasn't done already).
"CBL" button and ""OK/SEL" held down simulataneously for 3 seconds ... then "001" for the Scientific Atlanta. If the unit turns off, you're in business.
well the short answer is : Check the sides of the set see if there is a crack in the middle where you could separate them Long answer: i would not recommend it even if it does, the screens are sensitive and could get dust inside the screen. Never taken one apart that far. i suspect most tech don't because of the problems aligning and dust ect.. trying to get it back together.
