I think the charger is working correctly - however, it doesn't seem like it takes very long to charge the scooter (maybe an hour or two at a time...)
Hi, well that sounds like the batteries have called it a day,
If possible try another charger because sometimes the problem can be created by the charger not charging properly or the problem with the batteries being made worse by a dodgy charger.

I did put a volt meter on the charger and checked it and it is showing around 30 volts of charging power which I understand to be the correct voltage
hi, no that's wrong , the maximum voltage should be 28.3 (MK recommended max charge voltage) , check the battery manufacturer's , the charger is damaging the batteries or shall i say damaged the batteries in question.
just to clarify i mean the voltage measured at the battery terminal once fully charged not the charging voltage..
Ok...just a little confused. It is an external charger and when I test across the terminals, it reads approx 30 volts. I have also removed both batteries after my wife had driven it approx 45 min and checked the voltages of the batteries. One read 70% and the other was at 80%. I then proceded to put the battery charger on both of them and they both charged to 100%. I check them about an hour later and the voltages for both are at about 12.7 volts I have not load tested them but they appear to be okay so far. Any other suggestions?
hi, yes they are damaged, the 30 volts combined reading is the issue, now the combined battery voltages are adding up to 30 volts that is too high and over time damages the batteries.
Just to clarify...the voltage across the terminals of the charger itself is approx 30 volts (not connected to the Jazzy itself. The voltage across the terminals of the batteries themselves is actually about 25,3 volts. I did put both of the batteries on an economy battery load tester and they both passed the test. I'm just a little frutstrated and confused as to what may be causing the batter light levels to drop so quickly on the Jazzy itself and why it only takes an hour or so at the most to charge them once the scooter has been driven...
if you are running the batteries down and then they taking about a hour to fully charge spells trouble, they charging too quickly so once again i say the batteries are damage internally now there are a number of factors that govern charging times , one is the amp rating of the charger, the higher, the quicker it fully charges but also the Amp /hour rating of the batteries in question, now from my experience i would the batteries need replacing.
The charger is a 5 amp charger

SOURCE: pride victory Scooter battery charged won't run
Its probably too late to give my opinion, but here goes anyway.
I had a similar problem with my mothers scooter and it turned out to be a faulty connection on the wires leading to the motor. I simply pulled the plastic connection apart, cleaned and lubricated the contacts, refitted the connection and all was well.
SOURCE: dead and wont move cant charge but batties are ok
sounds like a dead battery on the unit. see if you can get it replace .

It is pretty common for the meters on the charger to either not work at all, or give an inaccurate reading. They get bounced and dropped, and they aren't that well built to begin with. Basically, just ignore the charger as long as you are getting a full charge out of it, and getting good distance with each charge.

With a Pride Scooter the charger will turn green if its fully charged and if there is a bad connection in the wiring with the batteries. If you plug in the charger and the light comes on green right away then there is a problem with the wiring or connections. Take a voltmeter and read the voltage at each battery. Fully charged they should be 13-15 volts each. If they are less than 12 volts then they are not charged and the charger is not working correctly. If the batteries are really low like less than 8 volts each then the scooter might not come on at all. If you find that the batteries have at least 12 volts or more then there is a wiring problem from the rear of the scooter to the front tiller. Pride has a habit of developing problems in the harness running from the rear to the tiller. My suggestion is to contact your provider (where you got the scooter) and have them troubleshoot the scooter. If the scooter is less than a year old then it should be under warranty and your provider will have to fix it under warranty. Sorry I don't have a quick fix for you but scooters are notoriously bad to troubleshoot and repair, especially long distance. Hope this helps you

My Jazzy Sect 6 does the same thing. Changed batteries, used a friends charger, no difference. Can't check voltage output of charger because it needs a "trigger" voltage to turn on. Old batteries and the new set of batteries check 13+ volts.
