How do I set up Port forwarding for 4 ip cams on apple's Airport Extreme newest router.

ATT says it doesn't block ports and the SpeedStream 5100 adsl modem they provided shouldn't be blocking any ports. Yet I cannot get my new Airport Extreme to port forward the cameras ip so I can view them wirelessly. So either the Speedstream or the Airport Extreme is blocking ports.

SOURCE: need to telnet or web into speedstream 5360 modem

I believe the default IP address for those is 192.168.254.254 and the login and password are both admin. If that address doesn't get you to the login screen, do the following.

1. Go to start>run
2. Type cmd and hit enter
3. Type ipconfig
4. Write down the default gateway address
5. Type that address into your web browser and see if it connects to the gui now.

If that doesn't help let me know and I'll keep digging for the manual but wow is it hard to find anything about it online.

SOURCE: Hello, I am the office

Thank you for using FixYa

I am going to attempt and I say attempt to give you a solution. After much research I find that this issue has come up before since about 2003 on those series of modems. I found one solid reference that solved the issue. Their solution was to set the modem to Bridge and do the port fowarding in the Linksys router. I do not know if this will help you in your setup but it is at least worth the suggestion. I am sure your Speedstream is out of warranty by now and you are unable to get back to the supplier, who may have other suggestions. Those modems have come through an evolution of updates as you might have guessed and the solution may be getting another kind.

I hope this was useful and please comment if this was helpful to you.

Setting up a printer for an airport extreme using windows xp

This faq might help in setting up the printer however this is not guaranteed to work every time if the printer in question is not supported by the router...

If you use Windows XP, you can print to a USB printer connected to an AirPort Extreme Base Station. Just follow these steps:
1. Click Start and point to Printer and Faxes.
2. Click Add Printer, follow the onscreen instructions.

Is there a workaround for blocked port 25?

Port 25 is normally blocked by ISP's to prevent email spam.

You could change your mail server to use another port such as 2525 but this will require your mail software to use that port also as well as any other users you may have.

You could purchase a website and setup email on that.

How to forward port for a IP camera on a Huawei 655b modem ?

You can't port forward on a modem. On a router, yes. You just need to set the a static IP on the camera outside of your DHCP range. Then select a port above 1024 and set that port to point to the static IP. You should only need to port forward UDP. Optionally you would want to setup a dyndns account since your public IP from your ISP is dhcp and therefore doesn't always stay the same.

My Router doesn't allow me to open up my ports for my Xbox. My NAT type is Strict and it doesn't allow me to communicate with other people or even get a good connection. I would like some...

If you know how to set the port forwarding on your router/modem then you need to set the following ports up to forward to your Xbox's IP address:

Xbox LIVE requires the following ports to be open:
  • Port 88 (UDP)
  • Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)
  • Port 53 (UDP and TCP)
  • Port 80 (TCP)
You can read the whole web page by clicking here:
If you can't click the link above you can copy and paste the following into the address line of your web browser:

Hope that helps.

Just got a new router (motorola) and airport will

Check your connections:

DSL-modem to telephone-jack (or cable-modem to cable-jack).

Ethernet cable from DSL-modem (or from cable-modem) to WAN port on your router.

Ethernet cable from LAN port on router to WAN port on your Airport.

Cut the power to the Airport, and then plug it back in, so that it restarts.

Can't view IP cam externally

Follow The Process:-
1.Visit https://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports
input the port 5000 and check is it open or not, if it is not open it means you need to check port forwarding in your main internet router/modem.
2. By Default Routers/Modems Http port it 80. so you need to change ip camera http port 80 to 81 and do port forwarding and to view on android devices check another ports in ip camera network settings. so same port forwarding and check in yougetsignal website.

DHCP problems for wired devices on my network

It sure sounds like the switch is not passing the DCHPDISCOVER packets through to the Apple Extreme.

Is the switch a NetGear Prosafe switch, or a GS608, or a different model?

If it's a managed switch (e.g. ProSafe) then you can connect to the switch's management UI and confirm that the default uplink port is set up for the port that connects to the Apple Extreme, and that it's set to forward DHCPDISCOVER packets to that port

If it's an unmanaged switch like the GS608, then it shouldn't matter which port you connect, but if your model has one port labeled "uplink" then you should be sure to use that port to connect to tha Apple Extreme.

One last thought -- have you replaced the cable that you're using between the switch and the Apple Extreme? You could test the network by first connecting your computer to the Extreme so it gets a valid lease, then unplug it and hook up the full network (computer -> switch -> Extreme) and see if you can still ping the router.

That's a bunch of thoughts, but may not be a solution yet. If these don't address the problem, post back with the model number of your Switch, and I'll go more in-depth.
