You do have a problem as the system is controlled by the right-hand speaker. I would suggest you somehow buy an ADA885 system where the main amp/subwoofer has blown, then you will have a complete system.
a portable DVD player usually doesn't have speaker or line outputs, if yours does just those (red and white) and connect to audio in of the altec lasnings. if no audio output connectors, use the earphone jack with an adaper (1/8 stereo male to stereo pair rca male.
Well is the new fuse still good or out again. if its good, then you probably fried the main board on the amplifier. These computer speakers do not handel big power serge's.
check u have the lastest sound driver.or u can try uninstalling it and run driver cleaner then try reinstalling driver.if u are using vista u may have to go to audio devices and set from there.also try air the input plug whole just incase dust has settle there. hope this helps. dt
