Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX9PP Digital Camera Display not working

I have lost the back lit display on my camera. This has been intermittent for the last year or so, so when the display would go dark, I would turn the unit off & on & that would sometimes work. Mostly I would give the screen (or side) a bit of a "tap" and voila! on it would come. I can, depending on ambient light and the right angle, see the image and menu options faintly on the screen. I can still take pictures, although not well as you could imagine. I may need to find out about service repair options for this problem. I'd hate to throw away this $300+ camera and don't want to spend too much for repair. Thanks, Alan B. Southbury, Connecticut

It seems that the only repair option unless I try to take it apart myself was to send it off to Panasonic for a flat rate of $161.50. So I went to "Plan B" ..... I went on eBay, found the exact same camera last night that had an auction that was ending in a few hours. I bid on it & & won it for $61. So I get memory cards, extra charger, battery & cables & move on. If, down the road, I can find a Panasonic recall similar to Canon's then I'll bring the old one back to life.

I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX9PP and the monitor suddenly went completely dark and has stayed that way. What caused this and how can I reverse/fix it?

The display being black can be due to failure of the LCD or the CCD which is the optical sensor of the camera. So to confirm check the older picture to be seen on the display. Confirm this by checking the card on your PC. If the display is not seen, then the LCD can be faulty, fault on the linking cable or the control board.

However if the older images are seen well then the LCD is working correctly and the fault can be failure of the CCD- charge coupled device in the camera. If you have accidently exposed the camera directly to high intensity light / sunlight, then it is possible that it is damaged. Remove the battery and keep the camera aside to reset and try as a last resort. Get estimate before you decide. It will be good to have it checked at the authorised service as you do not have to run around for spares.

Panasonic lumix dmc tz7 has message no valid picture to display. Can someone please help? This is not a new memory card , it has been in use for a few weeks.

Have you got the switch on the rear of the camera set to camera and not playback? My camera displays this message if I have no images on my memory card and try to play them back.

I have an urgent issue of needing to display date Lumix DMC-FZ50

http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Cameras-Camcorders/Digital-Cameras/Lumix-Digital-Cameras/model.DMC-FZ50K for pdf version of manual. The K or S means the color of camera you have...black or silver. My wife has that camera, there is no way to display the date/time on the pictures themselves, you will have to look at the properties of the image. All images now contain certain data that is hard for the novice to change and might be able to be used in certain courts...good luck, hope it's not too late.
