It grinds but why won't it advance grounds and why does the red bean light come on?

(Besides the possibility of being clogged) there is also a microswitch which controls when there is enough coffee. If this switch isn't working properly, the machine will keep grinding coffee indefinitely. The microswitch has code XCC5-81 (you can look for it on e.g. Ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Schalter-Mikroschalter-micro-switch-XCC5-81-P5-Saeco-Incanto-Magic-Vienna-Royal-/301012989303?hash=item4615c5b577:g:EvAAAOSw4CFYyrfB).

Our Saeco Vienna Superautomatica sounds like it's grinding beans but keeps running until the red 'bean' light comes on and we have to shut the machine off. Any suggestions?

The grinder is timing out and stops if the beans do not enter the grinder. This happens because:
1- The grinder outlet is clogged and fresh beans cannot pass through the burrs.
2- The grind setting is too fine and helping clogging in the grinding chamber or the ground coffee outlet.
3- Operator may have been using dark roast oily beans. Like it or not, the dark roast oily beans do not make stronger espresso. Please stop using such beans in fully automatic espresso machines.
4- The grinder has already made over 2000 grinds and the burrs are blunted and not grinding beans as needed.
To solve this malfunction, clean the grinder. Make sure the grinder outlet to the doser is cleaned. This outlet passage is about 2 inches or more. To clean it, lay the machine on its back (water tank side) to allow better view of cleaning the doser and the passage of coffee from the grinder to the doser. Use the link below to find instructions for cleaning the grinder and replace the burrs.

I just received a used Saeco Vienna SuperAutomatica and I can not get coffee to brew. Drive grounds are shot into discard bin

HI
You must have 2 knobs in the bean hopper, or the grinds are more like French Press (very large grinds) If yoou just have 2 knobs turn the small one towards the minus (-) a little, and see idf that helps. If you hqve very large grinds you grinder has seperated and needs to be replaced.

Hi, My machine starts the process allright. It grinds and starts brewing. A few drops comes through, then it just stops and a red light shines up. I have tried to remove some parts and cleaning them. It...

Sounds like the grind is too fine. If its (the big knob) below 8 in the bean hopper, turn it to 16. You can turn the knob to a larger # anytime but you have to be grinding to turn to a smaller #. Make 3 coffee but push the button when it starts to brew to stop the brewing until you get to the third coffee and just let this one brew. If it brew correctly then turn the knob down to a # a couple higher than you had before.

When the espresso is grinding, it appears to be grinding continuously and will then stop and the light will come on as if the hopper is empty, even when it is filled with coffee beans.

Turn the big knob in the bean hopper to the largest #. If it works, on the second try turn the knob back down to a #, higher that you had before, but only turn the knob when it is grinding.

Hi
More than likely your grind is to fine and you are using oily beans (shiney). There is a small knob in the bean hopper. turn it down to the minus side. Turn the big knob to the # 18. If that doesn't work you are going to have to take the grinder apart and clean it.

Saeco Vienna grinding issue

Hi,

I think so, most problem with that the grinder grind to the lamp light up is damp in the grinder or oily beans.

if you have two adjustment knob in the bean hopper then the second problems can be the micro switch in the machine that have to be replaced.
