Hi, i have this HP pavilion dv2500 laptop. i sent it to HP for repair couple of time, but every time i sent they said its been fixed and so and so were replaced (like fans and all). I still have the same problem. When i start my laptop it works fine for 2-5 or sometimes even for 30 mins, but eventually the screen goes off and after 2 mins or so laptop goes to sleep mode. Go into your control panel and under power saving turn off the sleep mode settings also check power saving sleep mode settings in bios by pressing f2 at boot also check battery options in security settings hope this helps and yes hp techs are just high paid plumbers reading memos from screens so there not usually much help lol

thank you so much for your prompt reply. I did the changes in control panel/power mgmt. But i could not do the required changed in the BIOS as much of the settings are either hidden or not present and i do not have bios pwd setup. So, how do i change sleep setting in BIOS pls?

you dont a bios password is the most secure password you can have ,dell does offer support for resetting abios if its ibm your screwed.you can download your models keybord short cut key program to use the keyboard as hot keys if that doenst work then try a reinstall operating system as last resort,if that doesnt do it thats all your options although one of those should work

SOURCE: Hp pavilion dv9000 wont boot, coloured lines appear no bootscreen

This is caused by burn out of the Nvidia graphics chip on the motherboard. You need a new motherboard. This is due to a design flaw (the subject of a class action against HP in the USA). I have had two motherboards fail on me in this way so far - do not expect any worthwhile support from the HP "support" people they are all in India and can hardly communicate outside of their simple repetative scripts. Its impossible to escape them - I tried communicating with head office but all you get is contact details back to the incomprehensible Indian call centre. I strongly recommend against ever purchasing from HP again.

SOURCE: Laptop Screen goes blank

Are you running on battery or AC? Try using the power cord, remove the battery and see if it continues. I have seen a battery that is on its last legs do some weird things to a computer. Also, check your power management setting. Control panel, power, and set the computer to "always on" just to see if it could be a power management setting. If none of this works, i would back up all your files, and try to reload win xp from scratch.

Hi, I have hp pavilion dv2500 laptop. I have display problem.pls help how to rectify it. If i connect exteranl CRT monitor Display is coming . Pls tell me how to disassemble the laptop.

You might have either a faulty LCD cable or screen inverter board.
The LCD cable transfers data signal from the motherboard & video card to the LCD screen. It also supplies high voltage DC power to the screen inverter board. The screen inverter board works as a power supply for the backlight lamp mounted inside the LCD screen. It converts low voltage DC power to high voltage AC power needed for the backlight lamp.

In this service manual, you will find an illustration of how to disassemble the laptop & replace either the LCD cable or screen inverter board:

Hp dv2500 wont turn on

does the laptop plug in tightly to the power socket

if not the pavilion part to get the system power needs replacement

contact a local technician and state the power adapter plug-in on the motherboard needs replaced

these commonly go bad on pavilions

it should cost you less than 100usd to repair

or rma the laptop if you have warranty coverage left on the hp dv2500

good luck

HP Pavillion dv2500 laptop will not boot up.

Pressing the f8 key doesn't work either? This should boot the laptop to safe mode, if it doesn't then check the memory cards before you do anything else, try to get somebody with the same type of memory card to lend it to you. If that doesn't work, then your HDD is corrupted, and to re-install Windows.

Black screen

If the screen is breaking up into multiple screens, the video resolution isn't set correctly. Change the video properties back to the native resolution.

Right-click on an empty area of your desktop screen. Click on Properties at the bottom. Now click on the Settings tab.
The Screen Resolution slider should be all the way to the right, close to -> More.
The Colors should be set to the highest setting.

When you close the lid, you may have your laptop set to Sleep Mode, check that. You may also have your screen saver set to Blank, and no screen saver has been chosen.

(1.Screen Saver: Right-click on empty area of desktop>Properties>Screen Saver.

2.Sleep Mode: Start>Control Panel>Performance and Maintenance>Power Options>Power Buttons>When I press the sleep button on my computer>Then choose what you want it to do)

If none of this helps, I suggest you have a problem that HP needs to repair. Since you bought this dv9700t last July, would I be correct in assuming it's still under warranty?
