On my 2003 Tahoe 4x4 only the gauges went out, all the lights, warning lights, the information center worked fine. I pulled and replaced the 10 amp PIC/DIC fuse and the gauges started working again. What is the cause and the permanent fix for tis, or is there? My battery died on it and had to be jumped off. Then the gauges stopped working.
IS this a one time issue? IF so when the battery dies and is jump started, the voltages can be spiked or sag and this causes issues with the electronics in the boards. When you pull the fuse and put it back you are resetting it and not letting drop or sag or spikes happen. If the issue keeps happening then you need to look at for issues with bad connections on the boards or the BCM

There are a number of things that can cause the heated seats and power seats not to function. You have confirmed the fuses are OK, now you need to confirm the ground circuit is good.
The G305 ground circuit is located either under the driver seat and carpet or at the left lower "a" pillar under the carpet retainer trim in the driver door opening.
The G305 ground circuit is tied to both the heated seat and power seat issue.
You may want to have the truck scanned for diagnostic codes. You can have this done at no charge at your local Auto Zone. It may narrow down the problem a bit more.
The reason I say that is the switch that controls the heated seats and power seats sends a signal to the Driver Door Module located in the drivers door. The DDM then sends a serial message to the seat control module and the seat module then performs the command. So if the message is not received by the seat module, hence, the seat does'nt work. So the problem could be with one of the other modules.
Check the ground and if it is OK, have a code scan performed and we can go from there.
Good luck.

Are you talking about the one in the roof console, near the windshield?
With the key OFF:
Depress and hold the MODE and the ENGLISH/METRIC buttons.
With these two buttons still depressed, turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
When you do this all display segments will light for 2 seconds then off for 2 seconds, then it should show "PS" then turn off. After this, then unit may show E1, E2, E3 or E4. If E and a number (E1) didn't come up, then there are no errors in the System.
Turn the van off, then....to set the compass, find your location on the map picture. The number you fall under is your zone number.
Turn the ignition ON.
Cycle the driver information center (DIC) to the Compass/Temperature mode.
Press both the E/M and the MODE buttons for approximately 5 seconds.
The last entered variance zone number will be displayed.
Press the E/M button until the proper variance number (See picture) is showing.
Press the MODE button in order to set the new variance zone and resume normal operation.
Note: The features are controlled by outside data. The only feature that is self contained in the unit is the compass, and if it is not working correctly, then the unit is malfunctioning and I would suggest replacing it with a new one.
Perform these steps on more time. If it still does not work right, then the unit will need to be replaced.
Turn the ignition ON.
Cycle the driver information center (DIC) to the Compass/Temperature mode.
Press both the E/M and the MODE buttons for at least 10 seconds until the calibration symbol appears.
Release both buttons once the calibration symbol appears.
Complete 3 360° turns in an area free from large metal objects.
But I would wait before replacing it. Drive it around normal for a day first. If it nothing happens then, then replace it. The compass will not always calibrate right away.
Good luck and hope this helps.

There is a fault code present and you will have to take it to a dealership for them to use a Tech II and read the code.

It is comon that the DIC will fail this way. They are not very expensive on the average. I hope this helps.
Thank You,

The dash cluster is know for two different problems.
If individual gauges bounced erratically and then quit, the little stepper motors that run them are bad. Upgrades are available from eBay, but you need PC soldering experience to change them out. An internet search will show allot of people who will rebuild the cluster for you.
If the entire cluster died all at once, the most common issue is bad solder joints near where the plug attaches to the board. This is an easier fix than the stepper motors, but still you need to be handy with a soldering iron!
