Hi, I bought the laptop with Vista, but I installed XP, now installed Windows 7, everything is working perfectly but not charge the battery, I've tried everything: calibration, tested various power plans, I ended up buying a new battery but no result . I think it must be some kind of driver or change something in the BIOS that I lack despite having returned to install XP and Vista and battery re-charging without problem. can help me. [email protected]
Update your bios then update the battery drivers in device manager if that doesn't work go to win 7 pro

Go to the microsoft website & download windows 7 compatability test. Run the test on that computer.

Hi Trifon,
you are detecting a known problem for 32 bit operating systems.
The problem for those system is that they can manage maximum 3 Gb of RAM.
If you want all of your RAM used you have to install a 64 bit operating system. Windows 7 has also a version for 64 bit as well as windows xp (but is not good supported) and windows vista.

reset the bios to all default settings upgrade your service pack or downgrade depending which one you have if your running sp3 go to 2 or one this is a primary issue with battery acpi in some vista units did you format the drive and fdisk it when you first installed the xp op sys.and is the bios flashed to mose recent update that could fix the issue as well since this is a bios related issue
also check assus to see if they have any fixes for this problem they always come out with fixes that you can download on there site.look on assus web site for downloads and in the driver update data base of each download it will tell you what the upgraded drivers will fix and most common issues also if theres no support for the drivers check with microsoft .com the acpi is ms based hope this helps worst case scenario windows 8 will resolve the issue it has on most laptops i have had with this same issue but 8 sucks lol
