Transmission fluid is coming back up thru dipstick on my 2002 tb

What is causing the trans fluid to come back up thru the dipstick opening.  Gears are changing great.  started having problems about a week ago.  have not had much as far as trouble with it since I bought it new with 28mi. on it.  Did get the recalls checked and corrected as needed.

Locate transmission filter on 2002 ford escape

The '02 Ford Escape doesn't have a transmission (automatic or manual transaxle) fluid filter or even a fluid pan to house one. The transmission is mounted between the drive axle and intermediate axle, directly below the yellow transmission fluid dipstick. No need to mess with it. Change your trans. fluid at the regular specified mileage. If the fluid on the dipstick is clear, it's good. If reddish or rusty or dark, change asap.

Transmission dip stick keeps popping out

check trans. fluid level per owners manual. The high operating temperatures cause fluid to expand greatly,an over-filled transmission can actually force excess fluid out of the dip stick tube.check level with trans. hot, engine running in park on a level surface. After driving, place shifter in park, hold brake and move shifter through all gears and back to park.remove dipstick, wipe clean,re-insert and check fluid level.normally, trans fluid & filter should be changed +/- 100 k miles

I accidently drained the auto trans when changing my oil on a 2001 passat. How do I get the fluid back in the trans?

Right next to the plug that you removed that drained the transmission fluid is another plug, which is used to fill the transmission with fluid. You will need some type of hand pump and a reservoir to hold the transmission fluid. Parts stores sell a small pump that screws onto the top of gallon sized gear lube bottles. This would be ideal, since it has the hoses necessary to transfer the fluid from the reservoir or bottle, to the transmission. Pump fluid into the transmission until a little begins to run out of the fill hole. replace the plug in the transmission and start the engine, let it warm up, then move the gearshift thru all the gears. Put the transmission in neutral and check the fluid level with the dipstick under the hood. If you decide to replace the fluid with fresh fluid, use only fluid designated for your vehicle to avoid damage to the transmission.

2002 KIA SPECTRA 1.8 TRANS PROBLEM I, shift to drive this morning car shift fine then drop from 3-2-1- and stop no drive or reverse engine runs fine just lost all gears feels like neutral. did't...

With the motor running and the engine hood UP, stand near the driver's front wheel and look down below where you would add the brake fluid. You will see a black rubber handle. That's the dipstick for the transmission fluid. Remove the dipstick WITH THE CAR RUNNING, wipe the stick and replace it. Pull it out again and see where the fluid is on the stick. If there is no fluid on the stick you need to add at least two quarts of DEXRON III transmission fluid. It takes a special funnel and goes into the transmission where you took the dipstick out. They can help you at the parts store if you need help getting the transmission fluid back to the correct level. i have run my transmission very low many times and adding fluid always puts it back in shape.

If the fluid is okay, turn off the key and look up near the battery. Just below the air filter and battery area near the top of the transmission is a shift lever than controls the different gears that puts the transmission into gear. There's a big cable attached to it. Have someone shift through the gears with the CAR OFF and make sure you can feel that lever moving and you can see the cable pulling the lever into logical click positions. If it is shifting into the positions and you have fluid in the transmission you will need a transmisison shop to look at the car because you may have a bad electronic device that controls the transmisison or some internal transmission failure.

I want to add transmission fluid, but where does it go. i dont see the tank location in the manual

The trans fluid is filled by adding the fluid down the trans dipstick tube.Get the vehicle up to operating temp.Now.With the car parked, run through all the gears and finish in neutral. This is with the engine running. You now check the trans fluid level. The bottle the fluid comes in will(or should)have a tube at the nozzle.Use this to get the fluid into the dipstick tube.Hope this helps

The automatic gearbox on my mondeo 2002 changes gears but slips

In the engine compartment, you will need to locate the transmission dipstick. Usually on the left side of the motor, labeled "Trans fluid". Pull it out and check the fluid level. Your problem could be as simple as putting transmission fluid in it. That will make it slip. You fill the transmission right down the dipstick tube.

Ware is the hole for the tranny fluid in a 2002 durango

Usually you just add transmission fluid through the dipstick tube, given its a automatic. Have the vehicle warmed up to operating tempature and check the trans fluid. Remove the trans dipstick and place a small funnel in the dipstick tubes opening. Add the neccessary amount of fluid and recheck. Be aware though that between adding fluid and checking the fluids, you need to allow enough time for the trans fluid to drain all the way down the dipstick tube or you will get a inaccurate reading.

Checking fluid in transmission

There is no dipstick on a manual transmission. On a manual tranny, you check the fluid by pulling the fill plug on the side of the transmission. The fluid is supposed to be even with the bottom of the fill plug hole. Gently stuck your finger in there and on a fully serviced trans. you will feel the fluid on your finger tip. On an auto transmission the dipstick is on the passenger side near the exhaust manifold close to the firewall. Also you fill the trans thru the dipstick. Make sure you use the proper fluid and the correct amount.22
