Lexmark is one of the most popular printer manufacturers, and the installation process is fairly straightforward no matter what computer brand you have. Lexmark, however, doesn't always include all of the equipment required to hook up the printer. If you want to hook up your Lexmark printer to your Gateway laptop, you will probably need to purchase a printer USB cable.
1.Plug your Lexmark printer into the power outlet. 2.Turn on your laptop, or make sure all software programs are closed if your computer is already on. 3.Insert your installation disk into your Gateway laptop's CD or DVD drive. Wait for the "Welcome" screen to appear. If it doesn't appear after a minute, launch the installation CD manually by going to your start menu and clicking on "Run." In the "Run" field, type: D:\setup.exe 4.Press the "Install" button on your "Welcome" screen to go on to the "Introduction" screen. 5.Press "Continue" on the "Introduction screen" and press "Continue" again on the "Read Me" screen. Agree to the license agreement and follow any additional installation prompts. 6.Connect the Lexmark printer to your Gateway laptop when prompted. Plug the USB cable to the back of the Lexmark printer in the "Quick Connect Laptop Port." Then plug the other end of the USB to your Gateway laptop.
I hope you find it very helpful. Thank you for using fixya.
Hi,
Make sure that your laptop have the printer software/driver installed in it, Printer needs driver that allows it to communicate with your computer/Laptop. Sometimes drivers need to be updated.
But before installing driver you need to uninstall previous version installed in your laptop then after restarting laptop you can re-install new driver. Visit this link to install driver for Lexmark X2670. Go to download & start downloading.
Thanks...!!

If the USB connection doesn't work, first try a different cable and then try changing USB ports. The printer does have internet connection options but those can be trickier to diagnose a problem. (Problems with firewalls or Adding the device in the Control Panel are common.)
Usually a cable is not hooked up or the printer port is not enabled.
If it uses a USB port it should auto detect the port.
If this is the case you will need to download a new driver from the
Lexmark site that matches your operating system and install it.
You need to go to printers and faxes. Set up a new networked printer. Take the drivers off of your vista machine, because by using those drivers, vista is thinking that the printer is physically hooked up tot hat computer.
Newer printers will have a usb connection so u will need to buy a usb cable to connet between your laptop and theb printer. Alternatively, if your printer is old and doesn't support usb then you will need to buy a parrallel port to usb adapter to allow you to print from your laptop. With printers so cheap these days its actually more economical for you to buy a new printer rather than the adapter.
the only other way to do it is to connect your printer to another computer and share that printer over the network and then you can install that printer on your laptop as a network printer and therefore print from your laptop.
Looks like I've cracked it [Touches wooden desk]. Need a USB to IEEE 1284 36-pin Parallel Printer Cable, like the one I received today (ordered yesterday from www.cables2u.co.uk). First, connect it to Z11. Turn on Z11 and boot up Vista PC/laptop. (I run Vista Business on my laptop.) Connect cable to computer. Message appears "Installing device driver software". Click it for status. 'Found New Hardware' box appears. Click 'Locate and install driver software'. A message appears "Error loading LXADSUI.DLL. Specified module could not be found". Click 'OK'. Message appears saying driver software installed successfully. ["Yeah, right ..."] (Have faith, folks!) Now, click Start, then Control Panel and double-click Printers. Right click on Z11 and click on Set As Default Printer. Right click on Z11 again and click on Properties. Check on Ports tab that Port USB is ticked for Z11. On Cartridge Maintenance tab, check right cartridge is showing. If not, click 'Install/Change Cartridge' and follow instructions. Then 'Clean Print Nozzles' and 'Align Cartridges'. Check settings on the other tabs in Properties look OK and try printing a test page! It looks good to me!
The Lexmark 730 is compatable with the Vista operating system but the driver CD that came with the printer is out of date. I would recommend that you download the lastest driver for the printer from http://downloads.lexmark.com/static/229-1-0-501.html
you need to download and install the driver program for your printer;
http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi?ccs=229:1:0:290:0:0
go to this link and select your operating software version
same for this link for the user manual;
http://www.lexmark.com/publications/eng/z42-z43/index.html
Have a read of the manual, follow the installation instructions for the driver, restart your laptop and hopefully all is well.
Any trouble still, please post again so we can try and help more :)
