SOURCE: pool heater

No, though you sort of waste the gas running the heater all the way to the point you shut down the pump.

How can i do a bypasson a circuit board that was struck by lightninh on a tv?

Bypassing a board or a part on the board would be like removing the spark plugs from a car and expecting it to run. On a serious note, if the TV has lightning damage recycle it and buy a new TV, you may be able to turn in a claim to your insurance company, once a set has storm damage even replacing a board may not fix it long term, in our service center we usually won't repair a TV the customer advises of lightning damage,it's a good way to get call backs

My 2003 Lincoln Town Car was very close to a lightning strike.... Then when trying to start it it wouldn't turn over at all.... No sound whatsoever.

It depends how close is very close, but a typical lightning flash is about 300 million Volts and about 30,000 Amps. Even close by, that is enough energy in damp air to fry every electronics module and sensor in the can.

You need an auto electrician with a pro grade scan tool to diagnose.

I think one of our outdoor outlets was struck by lightning. Any advice on fixing this?

check the breakers if the outlet in question is blown dont turn on yet will need to check and inspect the outlet for damage that means using a meter [test THAT NO POWER present ] then removing cover and inspect if good then put back together and reset breaker ----probably tripped breaker do to rain /water because you would know if outlet / house was struck by lightning

ILO 42" flat screen I think was struck by lightening and now there is no color. Is there anything I can do to fix myself?

tried to reset the tv first, if struck by lightning the tuner will be damaged or the main board but since the tv is still working so i think not the lightning was the main cause.

Hi I have a Sony STR-DH510 that was struck by lightning and would like to fix it myself ,new in elektronics. Johan

As you are new to electronics it is not something that i would suggest, generally items struck by lightning are considered a total loss as the damage is massive, you have to replace every diode, IC and voltage regulator, also most if not all of the electrolytic capacitors will need replacing and parts will cost more than buying a new one.

Denon receiver just struck by lightning.

Any time a unit is hit by lightning, it is usually a total loss. While the initial problem may be fixable, other components have been stressed and are likely to fail. Most shops won't work on these units because of the likelyhood of continual failures. Warranties won't be given or the repairs. In your specific case, the switching IC has been damaged and needs to be replaced as well as the surround processing section. This is best handled as an insurance claim for replacement.

Nothing works.

Remote receiver got fried by the voltage spike. If you have pull chain controls as well, you can remove the receiver and possibly be able to save the fan, but the capacitors, may have also been fried. If the capacitors are fried, then most likely the motor experienced some seriously high voltage too, which would mean I would replace the fan. I assume you have had the house's wiring inspected? If lightning struck the house and killed the fan, then it likely ALSO damaged other electrical components. If the lightning struck your power transformer and not your home directly, you may can get the power company to pay for this ceiling fan as the transformer is supposed to have a lightning arrester on it.

Schematic for mighty mule 502, lighting hit gate opener and now it does not work have replaced parts of foil runs and blown capaitor

Well this is a BAD situation, because your opener was NOT grounded, you will have to replace the Circuit board, but since this damage was caused by an act of god "nature, being lightning struck" Than GTO, "mighty mule" will probably NOT replace the board leaving you to BUY new ones, which are about $100 to $200

Struck by lightning and won't power up

WOW!
Warranty voider there.
Hate to see a $1,000 TV go down the toilet.
If your lucky, you can try checking the fuses inside the TV.
The lightning may have taking out only your power supply board, shopjimmy.com may have replacements for about $100. But, I can't tell you for sure that will fix the problem.
You may have to take to a repair shop to find out for sure.
Good Luck
