My 07 you have to use phrob, to unlock all doors, once you do it, the rear door will open, reach in middle of hatch back there you will find handle to open hatch

You need to get into the boot space remove trim card on boot lid then you will see lock assembly find the link rod to the catch flick it with a screwdriver and the boot will open to change the locl assembly is quite easy you will need TORX bits to remove fixing screws good luck.
i had this problem when i first got the jeep, i cant remember how i finally did get it open, but if you can, its a simple process of taking the panel off the inside of the hatchback. youll see where the latch is attatched to a bar leading to one side. just adjust this until the handle moves the interior.
I removed the panel on the hatchback from the inside; there's a metal rod that goes from the lever to the latch. You can move the rod to open the hatch. There's a plastic clip that keeps it all together. On mine that plastic clip is broken. Trying to figure how/where to get a new one. You'll need small hands...
Didn't know the hatchback has key hole. mine don't. Anyways. climb in it from the inside and see if you can manually unlock the hatch. It's a little white knob at the latch that moves from side to side...lock/unlock. good luck
