It appears that the power supply is starting to fail on your LCD. Many failures like this one are due to bulge or leaky capacitors that overtime become defective.
For Anthony Pitt, The Samsung in your questiobn does not use the same power supply, I found one tip that says to check transistor Q802S on your power supply module, to insure the middle leg of the transistor in not broken from the transistor to the pc board. Thsi can cause erratic behavior. If the screen starts to behave after it's been on for awhile, your issue may be defective capacitors. Be certain none of the capacitors have raised tops. I have had intermittent issues with 46 and 52 inch screens. Failure occurs at the ribbon connector of the lcd screen and is only repaired by replacing the screen. I've found some repair tips on You Tube, but these have not been very reliable.
if their is no any power indicator that light in the front panel, it was a power supply board failure. you must look first the fuse if busted, then before you replace it ensure no other part has damaged like shorted diode, transistor, transformer and regulator.
Disconnect the input supply of system board or main board that comes from the power supply unit.
Power ON the TV to check the voltage reading of disconnected connector to the input of system board by using voltmeter.
Check the 5vdc and 12vdc by using voltmeter. If you got voltage reading of 5vdc and 12vdc,try to connect the input connector of the system board and check the voltage again. If no voltage when you connect it.There's a shorted parts on your system board.Replace the whole system board because its very difficult and expensive to repair it.
When the input voltage of system board doesn't have 5vdc and 12vdc even disconnected on the board. The problem is on power supply.
Check the following:
Fuse-Check the fuse if busted.
Transistor and diode-Check the transistor and diode if shorted.
Resistor-Check the resistor if open/change value.
Capacitor-Check the capacitor if leak/bulge on top.
If you found the defective parts that mention above.Replace it with the same type and ratings. NOTE:If the following parts are OK and the problem is still there. The power supply have major problem and its not for D.I.Y..
U have a dead power supply board, burn componnents parts on the power supply board.Replaced the power supply board,u will get ur power back as normal function as before.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
LCD TV TroubleshootingThe defective LCD TV may have the following common symptoms:
Symptom: No picture on screen but LCD TV still has sound. Solutions: The problem is cause by defective inverter. Replacing ivnerter will solve hte problem. Symptom: Screen flash on and off between 1/2 to a few seconds, but power indicate light stays on and TV still has sound. Solutions: The problem is cause by defective inverter. Symptom: Blue Screen but no picture Solutions: The problem is cause by defective Main Board(AD Board). In some cases, this problem may cause by the defective Screen Controller board. Symptom: Screen is half dim and half bright Solutions: The problem is cause by defective LCD Panel. It needs to be replace.
This is a power supply problem. Try to check the fuses ,fusable resistor ,capacitor and transistor in power supply board.
