This happens when there is a problem with the internal battery of the cartridge. GBA cartriges have small batteries that enable them to save games. You probably might need to have the store where you purchased the game to replace it with a new cartridge.

When you get a person's heart level to red then the blue feather will be available.
The game never really ends,so there's no need to rush to get married.
Make sure to give the person you like lots of things that they like to boost their heart level quickly.

Are you facing the person that you want to buy items from on the opposite side of the counter? There are also hours that the store are open. If you look on the outside of the shop there is a sign. I haven't played the harvest moon game you are talking about but in some of the other ones there is a bell or switch inside the barn to call the animals back in try looking for that. in the other games your character eats automatically, trying looking for harvest moon basic instruction faqs or introduction faqs on google or www.gamefaqs.com but make sure it is the right harvest moon game you look at (there are quite a few)
