Most tripod heads are held on to the legs with 1/4" re 3/8" thread bolt - just grasp the legs firmly in one hand, the head in the other and rotate the head anti-clockwise.

I have the same problem with the sony VCT R610, but these other solutions are talking about the 840...not the same I'd like to know how/where to get a quick release adapter also....for the SONY VCT R610
