the screen itself needs to be replaced or the digitizer for it.. in either case it needs to be repaired by a professional as it will need to be checked first by switching the parts to determine which one is at fault before replacing it. unless you plan on buying both it will be cheaper to have it repaired in a local shop.
Nokia designed the N97 with a touch-screen calibration program to remedy problems with the touch screen. Opening the touch-screen calibration program requires you to use the touch screen, which can prove difficult. You're forced to judge where to tap the screen because the screen isn't recording the precise location of your taps. To find the touch-screen calibration program, open the main menu, select "Settings" and then "Touch Input." The program provides on-screen instructions to help you finish calibrating the screen.
If your touch screen is not working frequently, what you have to do is to calibrate the screen or check for the touch screen sensitivity. To calibrate the screen, go to the menu of the phone and select the settings, from the settings select the screen option, then you select calibrate screen and follow the rest of the instruction there on, or you select the touch screen sensitivity and increase it from there.
If your touch screen is not working, there are just 2 major causes of such, either a hardware cause which might be either the phone falling on a hard object or in water which could damage the sensor board and either the screen is malfunctioning and needs to be calibrated.
If you can access the menu of the phone, i will advice you calibrate the screen first before you send it to a repair shop. There is no updates to download for such problem as updating the firmware of the phone would do nothing but change the settings of the phone.
To calibrate the screen, you will have to go to the phones menu, go to settings, then you select the calibrate screen, it will show you some stars to touch and once you touch them properly, then your screen will be able to work effectively.
But if you cannot access the menu because of the touch, then i will advice you send it off for repairs, and what to repair on the phone is the sensor board.
There are no shortcut keys to the menu option except you stored them yourself. But since you o not have any shortcut key to the menu, it simply means you just have to fix the phone.
There
are two major reasons that could be causing the touch screen not to be
responding. The first is if the phone fell and the sensor board got
bad, and the best solution is to replace the sensor board. To replace
the sensor board is quite sensitive so i will strongly advice you seek
advice from a specialist that can assist you with that. But if you
intend to fix it DIY way, then you can ask and i will direct you
through the steps.
On the other, it might be the screen is weak
and needs calibration. To calibrate the screen depends on the type of
phone it is. I will advice you go through the user manual for the steps
to calibrate the screen of your phone. If you cannot get any response
from the screen, i will advice you replace the sensor board. Because
calibration requires you to touch the screen and since it is not
responding to touch, it will be pointless trying to calibrate.
dear friend,
The screen sensor board might be bad and need to be replaced. If you cannot touch anything on the screen then you have to replace the sensor board, but if you can touch the screen but it is too hard to select any option, then it means you have to calibrate the screen to be able to enjoy it once again. To calibrate the screen, go to the phones menu, then you select the settings, then you select calibrate screen, then you touch the middle of the star that appears on the screen, After that the screen will be able to work fine again. Hope this information helped. enjoy & cheers
First, upgrade the software of the phone.
After the upgrade, the setup wizard appears; complete it, and start it again from "Control panel", "Other", "setup wizard": now, just press the next button until 1 2 3 4 appears in the screen: don't select anything else, just the next button, or the calibration screen would not appear.
Have you tried removing the battery and waiting for a minute and replacing it in the phone. The phone will reboot and possibly your screen will work again.
have a china made handheld double sim
touch-screen phone. The device is Winkoy T6688. The touch screen got
damaged and after reseting the device, the following notice appears
after turning it on:
"Calibration wizard. You have to calibrate
the touch-screen. Click anywhwere on the screen with your stylus to
start calibration".
Of course you can´t but there´s no other
option because it won´t accept any other input until it´s calibrated
apparently. Does anyone know how to bypass this calibration wizard on
start up?
