I have to ask, did you ever figure out what the issue was? My mother's scooter is having the same issue.

Charging your power chair or scooter the correct way can make them last

Whenever you need to charge your power chair or scooter get into the habit of charging overnight. The battery level indicator lights will tell you if your chair or scooter needs charging. Whenever the lights are down into the yellow and especially if they are in the red. If you have the off-board charger, plug the charger into the charger port in the front of your joystick and then plug the charger into the wall socket or turn the on/off switch on and let it charge overnight. When you get up in the morning the charger should have a red light(power) and a green light illuminated (indicating fully charged) Always turn the charger off or unplug it from the wall socket before you unplug it from the chair or scooter. Never have the power on to the charger when you plug or unplug it from your chair or scooter. Whenever you get new batteries always give your batteries a full charge before use and then if you use the chair daily charge it every night. If you do not use your chair or scooter daily charge it at least once a week. Never leave the charger plugged in and on for more than 24 hours. Your batteries should last you 3-4 years if you charge them correctly.

Luggie scooter .. wont charge. Power light on scooter blinks red 7 times... battery? Charger?

Best bet is to contact manufacturer and get their advice, make sure they tell you how to fix it and not persuade you get a new one.

Where can I find a User manual for Currie electro drive scooter? Someone cleaned out their garage and gave it to me. I get a red flashing light when I plug it in.need more info.

I did not notice code list but here is a manual, hope it helps.
Plug the battery charger into a wall outlet, then into the charger port on the side of the scooter. The indicator light on the face of the charger will turn red, showing that charging has started. When charging is complete, the indicator light will turn green. A full charge will take 6-8 hours, however if the battery is not empty charging may take much less time. Always unplug the charger after use. Always store the scooter with the power switched turned OFF

How do I charge a moxie power scooter??

  • Turn the scooter's power switch to the OFF position.
  • Connect the charger's plug to the charging port on the scooter.
  • Plug the charger's power cable into a power outlet.
  • When the charger's LED red/orange light is on, the battery is charging. Optimal charging time is 6 to 8 hours, or up to 10 hours to achieve a complete charge. The scooter manual will have the exact charging
  • Times recommended for your scooter.
  • Stop charging when the LED light is completely green.
  • Disconnect charger from the scooter, then from the power outlet.
  • Run your scooter before riding it to verify the battery charge.

Why isn't my scooter charging when it's plugged in?

Your batteries may be too low for the charger to recognize they are there. Check each individual battery with a multimeter.

Disconnect batteries so you can check each individual battery. If you are unsure about doing this yourself, many battery places and medical equipment companies will check them for you.

Hi there...I had not used my Hoveround MPV4 scooter for over a year and when I finally went to use it, the batteries were no good any longer as they would not hold a charge...so I just bought two brand new...

Hi Pam,
The new batteries should work right away. (Your old ones had gone solid from sitting for so long- charge the new ones at least once a week to keep that from happening, even if you are not using your power chair.)
You may want to check all of the connections to make sure they are tight especially on the battery posts, also make sure the fuses are not burned out. It's recommended to run the new batteries into the red (fully discharge) then let them charge for 8-12 hours to make sure the batteries get a full charge the first time out, but if you haven't done that, it should not cause any flashing lights.
You said that green lights were flashing (assuming on the controller); if all 10 bars (3 red, 4 yellow, 3 green) are flashing that indicates a poor battery connection. 9 bars means you need to do a brake reset. Check page 51 of your manual for controller light codes or check this link: http://www.pgdt.com/scenter/diagnostics/diagvsi.html
If you have any other concerns, let me know. Good luck!
