What is the point of giving wedding party favors? We are trying to plan our wedding and save money wherever possible but my mother in law says we have to give out party favors at the end.

There's no point giving something and then being really upset about how much you've spent on it

I agree, party favors are personal, and sometimes, just a note that a donation has or will be made in lieu of your attendance as a "Thank You", and then in your written "Thank You's" send a small photo, which you can have replicated at Vista Print for pennies. Unfortunately, the gesture is nice for a Wedding Party Favor, but at the end of the day, who really keeps them, except in a drawer. For Bridal Showers, and for the Bridal parties, that's a different situation, but for the wedding, I personally don't think it's necessary anymore, and guests don't expect it. Food, Music, Laughter and fun are what makes the wedding!

Party favors are a very personal thing and should reflect your style and your budget. There's no point giving something and then being really upset about how much you've spent on it. But it's also really nice to send the guests home with something personalized from your wedding.

If you shop around online you will find some really cheap ideas such as a cute sachet of tea or lemonade mix that you can print your names on...
