Whenever I try to play a blue ray an error window pops up and states "Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD. The disc was created in a manner that the Player does not support." the disc goes for any blue ray. I bought inception and hunger games in store and it still does this.
Try some other free players to play your DVD discs and Blu-ray discs. It would be better to download some Blu-ray and DVD players to play the discs. You could try Leawo Blu-ray Player which can support Blu-ray, DVD and CD.
Hunger Games and Inception are popular movie titles in the United States.
Suggesting you try a free player software to see if it works.
Please advise us if you are using Windows 10, as other issues with blu-ray may occur.

i fixed this exactly as previous posted solutions, however a couple of points.
a) recordable CDs work if you don't have a DVD burner.
b) I didn't have a CD burner that would do an "image burn", I downloaded a free copy of "Express Burn" and that worked fine. The disk needs to be "finalised" or "fixated", it should do this automatically, or it may be a tick box selection.
c) I got a "No DWLD 09" when I put the disk into the player. I found this was an incompatibility with the CD-R (Maxwell) I was using. I changed to JVC and it worked fine.

The blu-ray laser in your PS3 is a three part laser (cd / dvd / blu-ray). They last only 1-3 years with average use. It's a Sony defect.

The reason for this issue is the lack of a codec software like Cyberlink PowerDVD or PowerCinema.These are paid versions.We could try installing a codec pack from Klite.Its free.The link is : http://www.free-codecs.com/download_soft.php?d=5075&s=775 Please let me know whether it fixed it

Try using VLC as your player. Go to www.google.com and in the search box type "download vlc" (without the quotes). Look for the Video Lan download from site www.videolan.org/vlc Download and install it. It downloads and installs in 3 minutes or so. It's a very fast player, smooth and it can play just about any type of dvd formats and media. It's totally FREE.
