Dryer has power, gets hot when timer turned but does not spin when the start button pushed. low hum, sounds like the heating elemtn but motor does nothing,.
Try holding the door switch with your finger and turning the drum with your hand after you push the start button , if this does not start it then you will have to replace the motor

Depending on the make of dryer,there are several possibile reasons for this.
First and foremost, could be a faulty motor- faulty start capacitor, Faulty start relay.

i get this all the time,yes it is the motor,what happens is the motor gets so weak that it will no longer turn the drum it just hums,a motor on ebay runs about $65,your model number if you want to tackle it is inside the dryer door-mike

i think the belt is slipping bad on your dryer,,
what puzzels me is you say you can here the motor hum? is it a hum? or a buzz?? if its a buzz then its more likley to be the motor as its past its best and it needs if it needs a new motor as well, it would work out cheeper to buy a new tumble dryer
