Remote won't work and power switch pushed inside the television

My son turned on the television a while back and the power switch fell into the television. We didn't worry too much because we could still turn on the tv with the remote but a couple days ago the remote stopped working and now we cannot turn the tv on. We bought a jensen JR400 universal remote but to programme it you have to turn on the television. Can we programme the remote without turning on the tv? The codes on the manual for the sharp tv are 0093 & 0688. My tv is a sharp 25 " (25NS100) Can you help?

Same problem...my toddler pushed the button in and now I can't turn on the TV.

Now ithe universal remote doesn't work either because the code has been reset and I haven't been able to reset because I have to turn the TV on and off to reprogram the television.

Please help. I don't have the original remote and this is becoming a MAJOR problem.

No, sorry, not from this distance. But if I were actually there, I would try to put the switch back where it belonged, IF it was not broken!

SOURCE: the power button on the tv is broken and i lost the remote

You can just try programming the remote with the Sharp codes they list in the instructions until you find the one that works. Follow the procedure for entering a code and try it. When you find the right one it will turn the set on when you hit the power button. The remote's instructions tell you to turn the set on to make finding the code easier (when the set shuts off you know you found the right one), but you can work without it.

SOURCE: i have a toshiba tv with a broken power button

Generally the power button has to be on first to put the TV in standby mode. If you cant do this no remote can ever work. Remotes are not capable of turning on a set that has no power mechanically turned off. and that is what the master switch does. once that standby light is off it is not live and consuming power and not under the control of a remote anymore

Tv won't turn on

Have you checked whether the power outlet is ok? Have you tried connecting the TV to another power outlet? If so, there is a defect inside and should be handled only by a qualified service technician.

I have a akai 61 inch dlp tv, my son turned it off went back 1 hour later tv would not come on with remote or by push button on front, checked to make sure power was in cord to back of tv, any ideas what...

I'm assuming that no lights are blinking on the front of the tv and the bulb is in god working order - it has been replaced recently. In that case the tv will have to be opened and the voltages on the power source tested, starting with the ones on the main switching transistor, followed by the ones on the output rails - a good voltmeter will have to be used. If all are there then check the voltage going to the

Won`t turn on

Hi,
Try leaving it unplugged for longer period of time. Look on the remote for any possible reset function. Try power button without the remote. If any ot these doesn't work there is a power supply module inside that malfunctioned. If under warranty contact where you purchased it. If not under warranty if you can get the module it is a simple plug up procedure.

Remote will not power tv on

Do the other remote functions work once the TV is powered on? If so you probably have a problem with the film switch inside the remote. If your really talented you can delaminate the film clean the switch with a pencil eraser and put it back together. If not very talented with tight work like that just get another remote.

Another possibility is that your remote is actually set to another function. Try pushing the TV button on the remote before pushing the on button.
