Your best bet is to start in the middle. Guesstimate and let it run. The test is to see if water freezes solid in 6-8 hours. If not, you can turn about 1/4 turn or less. Then you can try hamburger meat which a lower freezing temp and see if it gets solid. Your perishable items should be put somewhere else until you are ready. At least the water frozen will keep the meat safe from bacteria growth or spoilage. Let me know how you do.

I accidently turned off freezer. How do i turn it back on?

Turn the interior temperature control back on by setting at approx halfway between "off" and "coldest". (Make certain the branch circuit is hot - you should hear the compressor turn on when you set the control, possible an interior light will come on as well).

If the freezer does not run, check to see if you accidiently pulled the flash defrost plnger (if equipped). (See age 8 in your manual).

Defroster get red hot

Kenmore Frostless Upright freezer model# 23971. The alarm sounded, all contents in freezer is frozen solid. We turned the alarm off, but the red light continues to blink. How do you reset the alarm and stop the red light from flashing? It has been 3 days now and every time we have check to see if the contents has started to defrost, there is no signs of defrosting, everything inside of the freezer remains frozen solid.

Freezer will not come back on

First check the thermostat. It might have gotten turned up when you were cleaning it. If the thermostat is set correctly, the problem might be the defrost timer. It controls cycles the compressor off periodically to turn on the defrost heater. There are wires connecting it to the compressor. It is a little box, a bit smaller than a pack of cigarettes with about 3 to 4 wires connected to it. On one side is a hole with a plastic cam. The cam can be turned with a coin or a flat screwdriver. If it is turned about an quarter turn, it should click. If the compressor turns on after you turned the cam, then the problem is the defrost timer.

I have a Kenmore Upright Freezer. I need to

I unplug mine and let it take several days. You break a line or punch a hole in a line and the freezer will be ruined. Just let it thaw out on its own to prevent damage.

Kenmore upright older freezer coils frost up

the tech was telling you to put it in defrost and if ater the time you didn't hear the click the defrost timer is defective but like you are describing the defrost thermostat (bimetal) could be bad. here's a simple test (if your handy with a screwdriver) just dissasemble the panel and you will see the coil and defrost heater. if your handy with a voltmeter (please disconnect power first!) locate the two wires to the defrost element put the meter in "audible" mode and check for continuity on the defrost heater if you hear a beep it's good if it dosen't beep it's bad just replace heater w/ bimetal and your ready 2 go! email me @ [email protected] if you have any questions
