If you are not playing in windowed mode, Diablo II takes control of your screen and changes it's resolution down to 800x600 or 640x480. If you are in windowed mode, there are other things on the screen, so Diablo does not have control of your resolution. Diablo II can not scale up it's window to more than 800x600. If you want the 800x600 to take up more of your screen, then set your screen to a smaller resolution.

Nothing easier. Just insert the first Diablo 2 cd (the installation cd, it says so right on Diablo 2 cd cover). Autorun from Diablo 2 will start. It should look like the picture below:

You will see as in the screenshot provided above, that there are only three installation options for Diablo 2. These are:
Single Player (this is a small install, meaning 500Mb small – it will install only what is necessary for the game to run off the hard drive),
Multiplayer (the so called medium installation size: 900 Mb . Choose this option and the setup will install everything to the hard disk, all without the cinematic. For this you will be asked for the cinematics disc), and
Full (full installation at only 1.5 Giga Bytes – Installs everything you need to play the game, however you will still be asked for the CD for authentication purposes ).

try clicking on the auto-run file in the CDs folder. if still you cant get it to auto-run or start installing clean the cd and make sure you have the install disc in not the play disc or the cinematic disc

If your trying to find a free download, there are none. Quite basically, any free download of games that have been released on a disk would be illegal to download for free. I would recommend simply going to Best Buy, Target, Wal-Mart, ect. and just go buy the Diablo box set. It comes with all the Diablo games including the Diablo 2 expansion and strategy guides. It's like $20 or $25.
