I would like to hook my ipod strait to my unit? Can I,go in strait thru my mic input from my ipod?do I reuire a DVD?
When dealing with audio components there are three different sound levels: Mic, Phono and line. Each requires different amounts of amplification to work properly. Phono levels usually have their own inputs or use external phono pre-amps to get to line level for units that don't have phono inputs. The Ipod can deliver line level which requires less amplification than mic level. If you choose to connect the Ipod to a Mic input, you can possible damage the pre-amp section if the Ipod is turned up too loud. You are better off connecting hte Ipod to any line level input such as the CD or Tape inputs on the back of the unit. You will need a cable that converts from mini stereo to dual RCA connectors. These are common cables that should be available for less than $5.
Good luck.

You can plug the Ipod into the mic input , to do test recording. But the result wont be great.
To listen the Ipod in your stereo you should plug the Ipod into the Auxiliary input on the stereo.
Naturally you do not need any dvd.
