RS-25 foot pedal not working

I installed the Olympus DSS Player version 6.3 and the dictation that I imported from my computer worked perfectly. I was able to stop, forward it etc through the screen but when I attached the RS-25 foot pedal the dictation can't be controlled through the pedal. The foot switch setting in tools is grayed and can't be accessed. I don't know if I installed the wrong software. I've been trying everything for hours now and still nothing. Please help.

The foot pedal needs to be plugged in before the software is installed. Just uninstall the software (your files will be fine) and reinstall with foot pedal attached.

Had the same problem and it need a different serial number for the pedal feature to be active. They told me this was the plus software. I called Olympus and they gave me a new serial number that worked. Uninstalled and reinstalled with new serial number and alls good now. Hope this helps....

I installed Olympus DSS player (version 6.3) on my HP with windows vista home premium OS. The DSS player works fine, but I am not able to use the corresponding RS25 foot pedal with it. Please help!

Possibly you just need a footswitch driver. Here's a download for one:
http://user-guides.co.uk/download/olympus/olympusrs/olympus-rs-28-footswitch-driver.html
If you find a version 7.1 upgrade, be cautious about it, since I read that it often causes problems (google Olympus DSS version 7.1 upgrade and read about it).
Hopefully the driver will get you going.
Good luck, hope this helps, and thanks for using FixYa.

Software not compatible with Vista

Try running in compatibility mode for the program. Go to the program thru Start menu, then right-click. There you will see the compatibility mode Tab or choose properties.

RS-25 & RS-27 Foot Pedal not working with Vista x64

I had the exact same problem. Per Olympus you have to buy the RS 27 foot pedal. It IS compatible with Vista 64bit. RS 25 which is what I have IS NOT compatible with Vista 64bit.
Cheapest I found online is $43+ shipping for RS 27 foot pedal.
There is a free upgrade to DSS Player 7 on Olympus website that you will have to do for it to work with RS 27 foot pedal.

Olympus AS-2000 Dictation Kit - Foot switch doesn't work on Vista

HTML clipboard Olympus AS-2000 is not Vista compatible, you need to upgrade your software, I am not sure which version you have, but I think its version 6 ? You need to upgrade your software from version 6 to 7 (free) and then from version 7 to Standard (also free ) . check your foot pedal if it's RS-23 ( check the back of it ) then you need a new foot pedal ( RS-25 or RS-27 ) , if you have the RS-25 or RS27 you are ok .

Olympus AS-2300

The new DS-5000 SW has still got some quirks. The RS-25 is no longer available and I too have had issues with the 27. If your PC has a serial port try the serial plug, I know it is a step backwards but it has worked for me several times. Hope this helps. For now I steer clear of the DS-5000's.

Foot pedal

Make sure you are installing the Transcription version of the software not the Dictation version (Transcription version serial number starts with RTM and dictation starts with RDM). The foot pedal will not work with the dictation version of the software.

Foot switch will not respond.

The answer is all in the serial number you use to install the DSS player!

Look carefully and you will see the recorder disk has in my case an [E] printed above the install serial number and the transcription pedal has [T]

Install the same disk with the E the driver is there, the control in Control Panel is there, but the foot switch does not work with the software. Put in the serial number with the [T] and foot switch works first time!

If you uninstall the play and then reinstall with the [T] serial number you do not need to reboot or even unplug the foot switch from the USB.
