Acer aspire 8300 when turned on has black screen green light on but nothing else seems to work im sure on the black screen i can see a faint flicker tried to connect to monitor but nothing but 2 days ago it worked on monitor
Hello, have you tried reseating the memory, taking out memory and installing another? It could be a faulty memory module and if it isnt that sounds like the graphics processor on the motherboard is faulty. That requires advanced soldering skills. Hope this helps.

I had the same symptoms on friends laptop. She had nothing to lose so gave me carte blanc.
Took out battery (to eliminate as problem) plugged in power, and powered up
Power light OK, HD flashed, CD flashed, then black screen. Powered down.
Did the following:
1) took cover off of fan/circuit board (see http://www.insidemylaptop.com/ for details). (4 screws)
2) take out fan (3 screws) and find huge amount of gunk on cooling fins at fan disch. Blew out with compressed air. Also cleaned fan blades.(reboot shows didn't fix.)
3) Repeated step 2, Pulled out memory sticks and cleaned terminals by rubbing with lint free cloth. Replaced memory sticks.
4) System boots normally. Replaced battery. Boots normally.
DAMN I'M GOOD!

If you have a grey rectangle where ur cam should be. Especially after a
fresh install plus all the drivers. although Then here's your solution
:)
Go
into device manager and delete the USB controller. Then reboot. When it
says new hardware found let it automatically install it. Et
voila, working cam :)

Hi there.
Try taking the battery out and booting it on AC power only, if it boots up turn it back off and reinsert the battery, turn the computer on, if it boots up all good, if not please post back.
