Could you give us a little more detail? What make and model camera or light meter? How is it faulty? Is it consistently over- or under-exposing, or erratic? How do you have it set?

the camera is vintage film mtl 50 and not digital but facebook or whoever don't seem to know that these things still exist as they insist on calling it digital--so frustrating

So what is wrong with the meter? How is it faulty?

  • Anonymous Feb 22, 2013

The meter has 2 leds which can light up, at the moment the bottom up arrow lights up brightly telling you to increasw the exposure--to get the upper led to start to light up you have to open the lens up to f1.8 and set the shutter speed to 1/4 sec even in bright light conditions which is obviously completely wrong so the metering system is faulty. It is the correct 6v alkaline battery which is in place and the battery compartment is very clean--hope this helps-- Frank.

I have a Schumacher 10 amp fast charge Se40map. It powers fine, but meter doesn't show anything so I am not sure it's working properly. It sparks a little when I jiggle the clips. Any ideas?

Meter is calibrated in amps to show charge rate and usually that meter will be a moving iron type where the current actually flows through the meter. The indicator pointer might be jammed but if the meter is faulty in any other way there would be no sparking when you jiggle the clips.

There is an outside chance the meter is a moving coil type that reads a voltage across a shunt resistor. With this type a meter fault is possible without affecting the charge current.

It is worth noting, when a battery is fully charged, completely discharged, badly sulphated or otherwise faulty, no current will flow and so the ammeter will not indicate any current when the charger is switched to low or automatic and possibly when switched to manual high...

One final point - it isn't wise to do anything that causes a spark near a lead acid battery. A charging battery produces a highly explosive gas and they can explode quite violently.

How to turn off the inside light of a mitsubishi colt 2006 if it wont turn off

Room lights have connection with the door switches as well push buttons built inside the light. So if any of the switches is not working then the light would not go off. This problem can be identified by checking your door open light in the meter panel. If it remains on then you need to detect and replace that switch. In order to detect that which switch is faulty, you open door one by one and press its on/off switch and observe if the door light in meter goes off. If it does then you need to replace that faulty switch.

You should also push light itself and you will feel its on/off push buttons.

I change the bulb (9007) and it still womt work

Using a multi-meter, check for 12 volts when the light is supposed to be on. If 12 volts is not present, you may have a faulty terminal, faulty wiring, faulty switch, or blown fuse. It is also possible that the bulb was DOA, or damaged prior to installation or during installation. Check the bulb for an Open Line using a multi-meter. Replace the bulb if it is an open line.

L-358 light meter doesn't change modes

Most probably the switch under the Mode button went faulty. Try to operate the button many times, sometimes it helps, if the culprit is corrosion or small debris inside the switch. If not, have the meter repaired at Seconic.

Air flow sensor puma 1.7i

The mass air flow meter should only be changed after a suitably skilled diagnostician has checked the output on an oscilloscope and declared it to be faulty. Fault codes relating to this component can be generated by EGR valve problems or air intake leaks. If your Airflow meter is really faulty I would expect your Malfunction Indicator Light to be on. If you can get to Hants I could check it out for you. Hope this helps.
