I just did the self clean option and when it was done I received the error code E1 -F5- and it does have to do with the door latch. After turning off the power to the stove I was able to open the door and wiggled the latch and that solved the problem.......

Hi mrscottd,
The f5 indicates a loss of the relay drive circuit. To correct you can turn the power off to the range at the breaker box and wait about 10 minutes, then turn back on. This will reset the board. If the error returns you will need to replace the electronic range control (ERC). The part number for the control is # 338692 price $338.49 at Sears or My price $299.99 delivered. The E1- F5 error is a door lock error.

The control (TIMER) has likely failed in this instance - BUT...

Sometimes when you disconnect power to a range and reconnect it the electronic range control gets confused.
You should disconnect power again for 15 seconds and reconnect and see if that helps.

If it doesn't cure the E1- F5 error hold the bake button in until E0- F2 appears in the display.
This is the error for a stuck button on the keypad and is the way to clear the memory of the electronic range control.

Sometimes these work, but if the control has failed it won't make any difference.

The E1 F5 is an error code indicating that water temperature sensor error. There is a chance that there is a loose wire connection on the water temperature

what you have to do to fix up this is to unscrew (open)ranger then trace the wire down to the reader sensor/panel clean all form of water and dirt around them after all this make sure that all wire are in there position mostly on the panel then couple it back as it was with this the problem of E1 F5 is solve please do this with care

This E1 F5 error code means that the control has detected a problem with the door latch switch. We would therefore recommend replacing the switch as it is defective.

Check that door switch is completely closed. Check latch, solenoid, and actuation switch for electrical or mechanical malfunction. One of these is the reason for the E1, F5 code.

if it is a whirlpool, kitchen aid or kenmore by whirlpool you need to check the self clean latch asembly found on the rear of the unit. check the micro switches with an ohm meter. always remember to unplug the oven before you test any thing or replace parts. not sure why the broil wouldnt shut off. but the f5 error is definatly related to the door latch.
