Double images HCM4215W samsung rear projection tv showing double images on top of the screen. sound ok, rest of the screen is fine except about 6-8 inches of the top showes double

Ur video backlight board is dead,not get power to the board to get picture,must replaced the backlight video board.

It can be the Lamp Ballast as well as the Color Wheel.

get a new tv

When the screen goes blank, hit any remote function that will show up on the screen-like volume bar. If the display is missing as well, then you have a tv problem. If the volume display is there when the tv picture is not, you may require a software upgrade.

Unplug the TV from the ac wall outlet for about 4 minutes then plug it back in and turn it on. If it still has a double image then tell me if it's affecting the menu screen from the TV (not the cable menu). And is the double image in red and blue?

Your pro scan board is bad..Same exact problem happend to me.

Sounds like you have a bad convergence chip in the convergence board. Unfortunatly, about 80% of the rear projection sets I work on have this similar problem. I suggest that you change both chips ( there are 2 of the same ) and remember to use heat sink compound as this is why you not have the problem ( excessive heat destoys electronic components).
