I had same problem when I used the dual jack. I had to change it. I had the dual jack which would make it easier to use when I was going to send a fax.
Good Luck
It means "Communication Error". The result might be twofold: - the fax didn't reach it's destination because of communications error (any kind) - the fax did reach it's destination, but part of it may be unreadable or distorted, or some pages of a multi-page fax did not go through. In many cases, what the device perceives as an erroneous transmission, is perfectly readable by a human. Therefore it's good to call the recipient and ask if the fax is readable and if all thepages were received.
basically error 232 indicates that a communication failure has occurred between the two machines Following these steps may help resolving your issue
1. Make sure that the phone cord is
plugged directly from the wall jack into the back port of the fax
machine that is marked "Line" or "To Wall Jack", or that has a
wall-jack symbol. 2. Verify that the line interface unit (LIU) (the box that the phone cord plugs into) is seated fully into the back of the fax. 3. Remove any other device from the line
such as splitters, credit card machines, or telephone answering
machines, and retry the fax communication. 4. Try sending and receiving faxes on a different fax line. 5.Try using a different telephone cord. 6. Have the phone company test your line for static or noise problems. 7. Disable Error Correction Mode (ECM) if the same error occurs repeatedly.
keep the window closed ok? that's more along the lines of the phone issues, than the fax machine itself..there are many ways to outwit the phone tree issues, but each number would need to be encoded directly.
solution?
get a dedicated inexpensive fax machine, or use efax.com
ERROR 346
The remote machine has failed to respond to a fax command from the local machine because the connection was interrupted. These errors can occur if the phone lines in the area are old or if noise is present (static on the phone line). Other reasons could be power outages and other power-related problems.
