Acer Iconia Tab A500 black screen when power light is on

Only get black screen when power button is pressed. No startup shake or logo screen. Nothing happens. The device was turned off and plugged in for charging overnight. The next morning when power button was pressed only the power button lights up. Attempted factory reset. No changed. Now it will not turn off.

SOURCE: my literati wont turn on

Hm. Not sure how much help I'll be, but I'll give it a shot.
- Make sure the device is charged for at least 6 hours if this is its first use. If it isn't, charge it for several hours anyway and try it again. Make sure the charger is plugged all the way into the outlet and all the way into the device (mine sticks out about an eighth of an inch, yours might too). - Call customer service at 866-204-4714 and describe the issue. I had something a little like this issue (I was stuck at "Literati" screen) and they said to drain the battery and recharge it fully to see if it made any difference, and that if it didn't work they'll be sending along a package to ship it back to them for a replacement. If nothing works, ship it back to them for a replacement.

SOURCE: Hi guys, during upgrade I did

Have you tried the hard reset? Try these instructions for a hard reset:

1. With the device off, press and hold Volume Up and Power.
2. Release the Power button when you see the Samsung logo, but continue to hold Volume Up until the recovery screen appears.
3. Use the Volume buttons to navigate the menu and select wipe data / factory reset. Press Home to choose the selection.
4. Press Volume Up continue.
The Galaxy Tab should then go through the hard reset process.

SOURCE: I just tried to turn

Hello,

there are three things involved;

Its either the unit is not turning on, or its turned on and the screen is defective or the unit is corrupt.

First, check the battery to make sure is powering on the unit.

But if it is not a screen and battery problem, then it is possible that the OS of your unit is corrupt.

Just make sure you figure out first, what wrong with the unit, then a solution can be proffered.

Bye for now.

Acer iconia tab a200 gets stuck on the "iconia tab" screen.

Hi, could be hardware or software issue. If its hardware failure you may need to replace the motherboard which can get expensive. The power button fell off the motherboard of my A500. Tried to fix myself but stuffed it, official Acer spares wanted $617 for a new motherboard not including fitting, I found a factory refurbished one on eBay for $130 & had my local PC store fit it for $99 so it always pays to do some research.

I'd imagine the problem is corrupt or lost boot data though, which can happen if you've had to reset. I've had to fix this issue myself with no previous developer experience. Check out the XDA forum for your device.

All the info, guides & links you need should be there, its just a matter of working out what posts & comments are relevant to you. If you cant find the answers you need, sign up & comment your problem or create your own thread. As long as you be polite (please/thanks) they are normally willing to help. Failing that offer to make a small donation. It can be time consuming but save you lots of dollars.

Acer tab A200

You may have to perform a reset if your tablet fails to respond when buttons are pressed or the screen is tapped. To reset your tablet use a small thin object (such as a paperclip) to press the recessed reset button.

Or do Clean Boot to restore the Acer Iconia Tab A501 factory default settings.
  • Open Settings from the application menu, then tap Privacy > Factory data reset.
  • Click Reset tablet and then Erase everything to format your tablet.
