I am assuming that it was working when you stopped using it and I am also assuming that you stored it without running it dry. More than likely ththe gasoline evaporated in the carburetor and plugged it. There are very small holes in the carburetor that mix fuel with air which results in combustion but if those holes are plugged it won't start. If you take it to a repair shop they will want to replace the carburetor. If you are able to disassemble the weed wacker and remove the carburetor, I have had success in soaking/submerging it in fuel line/injector cleaner, it can be purchased at an auto store. Do not remove the small adjustment screws in the carburetor. If you do not want to disassemble it, you can try emptying the gas out of the tank and replace the gas with the fuel line/injector cleaner. Pull the starter several times to move the cleaner into the carburetor, let it sit over night, repeat again a few times. then put gasoline in the tank and try to start. Its worth doing over and over to clean out the residue. If that fails you can get a new carburetor online from Sears and simply replace it.

I have a craftsman weedwacker, I don't know how to

Most weedwackers are 2 cycle (stroke) engines, meaning the gas and oil are mixed together before you pour it into the gas tank. If it's a 4 cycle engine it appears there is no dip stick or convenience way to check the oil, you can only replace it. Here's a youtube video that may help.

hello sir, routing fuel line for craftsman, homelite, ryobi, hedge and line trimmers, fuel tank under engine, looking at machine from rear, shall fuel line on left with filter attached goes to bottom port of carb, fuel line from right side coming out of tank with inside tip attached goes to bottom port of primmer bulb, top line on primmer bulb goes to top port of carb, fuel tank under engine, fuel line routing, looking at machine from left side, left fuel line coming out of tank(drain back only) goes to right side small port of primmer bulb, left side larger fuel line from primmer bulb to top port of carb, fuel line coming out of tank (larger line) on the right side with filter attached goes to bottom port of carb, when replacing fuel line it is very important to use the same ID and OD line the homelite takes a special line that is black in color and a bigger size, the bigger line is ID .08-OD140 small line ID3/32 X 3/16.when the lines dissolve small pieces will get in the carb clogging small passages and screen,it is advisable that you clean out carb, and use a new filter.hope this helps, any comments welcome, thank you. if the filter has broken off of the line half way that is where you will run out of fuel, oo

Weedwacker -purchased more than a year ago, never been able to start it. Lost owner's manual - can I get a copy on line?

Should be able to google model #. Make sure you have a 40:1 fuel oil mix. Pump primer bulb 4-5 times, put on full choke, when attempts to start set choke to half. After it starts open choke. If won't start and has been sitting for months with fuel in it, the carb is more than likley gummed up.If you paide less than $100.00 for it it is not worth having it repaired at a shop. You can although purchase a new carb at eparts, or sears parts direct for around $ 30.00. Just need the model#. Good luck.
