Antenna connected? Station off air due to bad weather? Is the 'squelch' set to you hear static, then turn it back just to where it stops hissing? Try that and let me know.

Just bought a Midland 100B Weather Radio. I programmed the channel and SAME Set. I am not receiving any alerts. We are having an alert right now, but it is not displaying the LEDs or the voice/siren is not...

Good morning, afternoon, evening or night; whatever time of day you are viewing this solution post. Thank you for choosing FixYa to help solve this concern. You just purchased a Midland WR-100B All-Hazards Weather Radio. You have all the information programmed correctly in it and you are still not receiving any alerts. First of all, log on to this website and check to make sure that the transmitter tower in your area is still working (this means your county does not have a DEGRADED remark in its row).

http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/indexnw.htm

When you get to the website, select your state and you will see a list of all the counties in your state. Find your county and locate the REMARKS column. If your county has a remark stating "OUT OF SERVICE" or "DEGRADED", it means the tower transmitting broadcasts for your state is not working due to technical problems or recent severe weather conditions. If your county doesn't have one of these remarks beside it, then the reason why you are not receiving any alerts on your radio is because the National Weather Service has special criteria that a storm has to meet in order for them to alert NOAA Weather Radio owners "In the middle of the night or while doing daily activities". To translate that for you, they don't want to disturb anyone by sending alerts for storms that are not "life threatening" or going to cause severe damage. Click on the links below to find out more information about when alerts are broadcast.

http://www.weather.gov/os/eas_codes.shtml

http://www.weather.gov/nwr/nwrwarn.htm

NWR always runs Required Weekly Testing every Wednesday starting from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. If you are able to, check the radio then. If you see the amber light shine, then you are receiving a test. http://www.weather.gov/nwr/nwrtest.htm is the place to find more information about NWR testing. I hope this will give you a better understanding of when the National Weather Service sends alerts to the viewing area. Thank you for choosing FixYa to as your one-stop solution spot for questions, concerns, problems and requests. Stay safe this Severe Weather Season and have a good morning, afternoon, evening or night; whatever time of day you are viewing this solution post.

Co.code for volusia co. fi.

Good morning, afternoon, evening or night; whatever time of day you are viewing this solution. Thank you for choosing FixYa to grant you request. You want the S.A.M.E code for Volusia County, Florida. Shown below will be the website that contains this information.

http://www.weather.gov/nwr/CntyCov/nwrFL.htm

Your county is located near the bottom of the list. The county name is listed twice, but the S.A.M.E code is the same. The reason why the name is listed twice is because your county receives broadcasts on two frequency channels. This is good because if one transmitter tower goes out, you can switch to the other channel that's in your listening area. I hope you get good use out of your radio during this Severe Weather Season and that it keeps you safe and up-to-date. Thank you for choosing FixYa as your one-stop solution spot for your problems and requests. Visit our site again and have a good morning, afternoon, evening or night; whatever time of day you are viewing this solution post.

Cant get xm weather on garmin 740s

To receive XM weather or audio, the GPSMAP 740s requires a GXM 40 Smart Antenna with XM subscription.

The GXM 40 Smart Antenna (010-00730-00) is used to receive weather and audio service from XM satellite radio. For details on XM services please visit our XM webpage.

Once a GXM 40 Smart Antenna has been connected to the GPSMAP 640, the device can display the subscription information for the antenna.

From the Home Page in Boating mode:

  1. Select Configure
  2. Select System
  3. Select System Information
  4. Choose Weather Subscription

From the Home Page in Driving mode:

  1. Select Tools
  2. Select XM Services
  3. Select XM Radio
  4. Set the channel selector to channel 0
  5. Select Radio ID

The subscription information will now be displayed on the screen.

What is the knob on the back used for?

Good morning, afternoon, evening or night; whatever time of day you are viewing this. Thank you for choosing FixYa to answer your question. You want to know what the knob on the back is used for? I believe that's the weather band fine tuning knob. This is used for switching between weather radio frequency channels (e.g. 162.400 MHz or 162.550 MHz). Use this to switch to a weather channel that is in your listening area. I hope this answers your question and thank you for choosing FixYa as your one-stop solution spot for all of your problems. Come back and visit our site again soon. Have a good morning, afternoon, evening or night; whatever time of day you are viewing this.

My scanner picks up weather but nothing else on the police' fire, ham, marine, etc channels. We do not have trunking in our pubic safety in this area.

The fact that you can receive the weather broadcasts indicates that the unit is functioning properly, so chances are that you're just not scanning the correct frequencies for your area. For a comprehensive database of active frequencies and systems in your area, and a lot of other useful scanning information, visit:
