My Siemens Gigaset 2420 suddenly started dropping calls. Line 2 rings once or twice; if I catch the call before the phone misbehaves, i.e., on the first ring, the call is fine; if not, the call just disappears, the system does not capture call data and the call does not go to the answering system. This also affects other non-Siemens phones in the house. It seems the Gigaset is taking the call and immediately disconnecting it. Out going calls are fine. Line 1 is fine. I have disconnected the Gigaset, and as long as the Gigaset remains disconnected, the rest of the phones in the house work fine; re-connect the gigaset, re-establish the problem. I have also disconnected the power and re-connected it -- no help. Any ideas?

SOURCE: Siemens Gigaset AL14H - mailbox full
I know this problem was posted ages ago, and no doubt the poster has solved it, but I hope giving a solution now is useful for some poor soul who, like me, who has spent ages surfing trying to find a solution, to no avail.
Basically, the problem is NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR PHONE. I discovered that our telephone supplier (Virgin Media in our case) gave us a free voicemail service without telling us. This service cuts in before the answerphone and takes messages which you don't know are there - apparently they are indicated by a break in dial tone but of course with Gigaset phones you don't use a dial tone!
So, people leave you messages (which you don't know are there, and so ignore) and after a while your mailbox gets full.
To access this mailbox you need to call 1571 - when you finally discover this you'll be surprised at how many important calls you've ignored.
To turn the service off you need to call the phone provider and it can take 24 hours for it to be turned off. Beware though, it took me 20 minutes to get through to the service provider. I then spoke to someone in India and was then transferred to someone in England who resolved the problem.
Finally we are back to normal. Phew!

Usually answered in minutes!
When I am on the phone and another call comes in on the other line (we use both of the phone lines), sometimes all the lights on the phone light up and then BOTH calls are dropped (all the lights go OUT). If I wait, the phone rings again, all the lights light up, and then go out.
I saw a response on another site that said this is a known firmware bug, and that if you clear your CALLERS log, it will fix it. I did that, powered my phone off and on, and it seems to be working (I've done about 8 tests different call-tests so far over about 20 minutes). Good luck to you.
