Cant get it to work on my computer i cant hear myself i am using the Nady audio condenser for the phantom power but im not sure if its the right Volts needed to power it..
SOURCE: pls help
The MXL 990s requires 48 volts to operate. If your mixer does not have a phantom power option, you will need to purchase a microphone pre-amplifier with phantom power to interface the microphone to your mixer.
SOURCE: I just purchased a MXL 990 condenser mic.
Phantom power comes in different voltages. Make sure your power supply is delivering enough. Also make sure that your mike cable is wired properly. 1 is ground or shield. 2 is hot or Ve+ and 3 is cold or ve- If 1 and 3 are bridged for unbalanced use or if you have a short it won't work and will probably damage the mike or the power supply. I think the power supply needs to be 48 volts and you have to use the stereo XLR cord that is recommended for it. I hope this helps.

perhaps there is agrounding issue or the impedance matching is not set properly for this type of condenser mic

It might just be a sound setting on your computer that is holding you up.
Go to START
SETTINGS
CONTROL PANEL
SOUNDS AND AUDIO DEVICES
Then VOICE tab and see if your mic is selected as the VOICE RECORDING - DEFAULT DEVICE.
Just one more thing you can try, hope it's at least a little helpful.
Good luck.
