When I press the power button nothing happens. There is 30 vdc at the adapter outlet. A lite pole in front of the house was struck by lightning awhile ago and I'm wondering if there is a fuse inside the printer but I can't get it apart.

Sounds like a bad brick. If you have a computer repair place near you take the machine to them and have them test the brick or try a new power cord. Usually a new cord will take care of the problem. Rarely the plug on the printer goes bad so hopefully it is just the cord.

Most probably a mechanism problem. Try to remove all sheets of paper. Take out the cartridges from the printer. Close the cover. Unplug the power supply from the printer. The power supply is the black box behind the printer where the power cord is attached. Check for any obstructions or foreign objects in the feeder. Wait at least 30 seconds before plugging the power supply back in the printer. Once printer is ready, reload the cartridges. Load about 10-15 sheets, don't load too much. Let it print the alignment page. If this doesn't help, then most probably it's a hardware issue. If this is the case, I strongly suggest you contact Lexmark Technical Support to further investigate the problem.
