Channel number on screen

would need the model number but it sounds like a software fault, this can be the control switch chip, does it do this on source to, some times can be fixed with the tv board being clean'd and the dust removed from the board. if there is a lot of dust build up it can cause problems with the micro chips connections you get a statick build up from the dust and make the board do strange thigs

hit menu button on your remote, navigate to channel setup menu. on the sub-menu, set channel fix to your channel that you require. now when your tv powers up this will be the default channel. if this doesn't fix your issue then try cycling through video inputs tv/video button on your remote.

Press " i " (info) button on Sony TV Remote so on-screen display will disappear.

it means that only one channel save from your tv. press automatic search to search more channel from cable signal. now you can change channel.

Using the tv remote (or selecting TV button on cable universal remote) hit the INFO button. It remove the channel # for me. I might have a different model.

Check to see that you don't have any channel locks or parental parental permission measures deployed. If so remove them, this includes V-Chip, and Parental lock out on the remote, and check your TVs menu items. What channel are being affected by this problem? Give channel number and channel type.

i had the same problem with a 32 inch and i kept "clicking" the channel changer on the remote to force the tv to go to another channel (that had previously been selected during the initial auto scan) --- still trying to figure out why the tv locks onto the scanning for channel
