My Dell Axim x51 will not go past the blue start-up screen that says DELL in the middle. Also, a blue light flashes where it usually tells you bettery power.
This first happened when I tried to connect the infrared Belkin keyboard. I pressed the two shift buttons on the keyboard at the same time like the keyboard manual says, however, it still would not work. I went to the Wireless PDA Keyboard program installed and I pressed something about a rotation. Since then, the PDA has not been working.
I press the power button and it doesn't turn off. In order to get it working, I have to take the battery out. I tried a soft reset but it still doesn't work.
When I connect it to the computer, it connects fine, but I can't do anything on the PDA because the Dell start-up screen will not go away.
When started and on the blue screen hold the power button down shutting it off restart it and a black screen pops up go down to start in safemode with networking that should work

the dell axim x51 is a Pocket PC with built in GPS and if you cant remember the password your only option is to reflash the device and start again , as the password is there for a reason, to stop unauthorised people gaining access
Unfortunately............no. Too many differences in hardware. There ARE however, there are ways to make it web accessable using bluetooth through a cell phone. Very doable and worth doing with any of the Dell x5x series PDAs. Can be done, I've just never gone that far to find out how.Check out Mobilitysite and HTCGeeks for a wealth of info on anything Dell Axim (other mobile stuff too!).
Dell made an entry into the market of Personal Digital Assistants (PDA)
with Axim X5. The Dell Axim comprises of families of X5, X3, X30, X50
and X51. The Dell Axim PDA can be connected to the computer either by
using a cradle or a sync cable. The sync cable connects the device to
the computer directly. Here are the steps for connecting a Dell Axim to
a computer using a sync cable.
p 1
The
Microsoft ActiveSync software must be installed in order to connect the
PDA to the computer. This software is found in the Dell Axim Pocket PC Companion CD.
Step 2
The Axim X51 PDA has a 36-pin connector, while the X3 has a 22-pin docking connector.
Step 3
Connect the USB connector found at the end of the sync cable to the computer.
Step 4
Check
the PDA. If the PDA is not properly cabled to the computer, you will
get the following message: “Connect your device to a computer using a
sync cable or cradle before running the system update. Ensure that
ActiveSync is installed on the computer and that the ActiveSync
connection is successful.”
Step 5
Ensure that the Dell logo faces upward.
Step 6
Use the sync cable to set up a partnership, which can be done multiple times when you sign in as a guest.
Have you tried hooking it up to the cradle or power plug? That should automatically kick the display on.
You don't say if the Axim crashed. If so, try hitting the reset button with a pen point on the back of the Axim. That should reboot it. Post back with how it goes.
You can get a replacement rechargeable one at batterytrader, here is the link - Dell Axim X51 battery, they also do a couple of extended versions just search on the site, this also fits the dell axim x50 pda batteries
Have you updated to the latest system utilities? (Formerly known as A12 English ROM image for X51v & A04 ROM image for X51, this is a newer update than those.) The link to the instruction page is long - here is the direct ftp Hope that helps.
