After a windstorm we temporarily lost power. the monitor won't power on. there are no lights of any sort on the monitor. how do i get it to power back on? i unplugged and replugged it but still no results.please assist.
Let's rule out the obvious first. It may be that a power surge has blown out the power supply on the monitor but let's check the outlet as well. Plug a lamp into the same outlet that the monitor is plugged into. If the lamp works, the monitor may have gotten zapped. If it doesn't work, plug the monitor into a known working outlet. If it turns on, the outlet is the problem. If it doesn't, your power supply may have gotten zapped in a power surge. This is assuming you don't have it all plugged into a power strip. Perchance would you be using a UPS (uninterruptable power supply)? If not, it's a good idea to purchase one for the next such occurence. You really don't need a heavy duty one. Just one that will give you about 5 minutes or so to power down after you have saved your work so nothing is lost. They also protect against such spikes and surges. Let me know what you find out.

Thank you for the advice. I had this same problem some time ago and I just don't recall how I fixed it but I will give your suggestions a try.
Here's the thing: I switched the cord that powers the hard drive with the cord that powers the monitor and voila! The thing lit up like a christmas tree! Thank you again .
