Officejet K5400 Won't print yellow

Hi David,

Turn Off Your Printer Remove K&Y Printhead from your printer. Put the Printhead in the bowl in the same Position As in the Printer And Pour Little hot water in the bowl till the printhead is half dipped in the Water. Leave in for 15-20 Min. after that Clean the Printhead with clean clothes.. Must Ensure that no Water is in the Circuit of Printhead. leave the printhead for 30 min. After that put Back in the Printer. You will Get the Better result than ever BUT PLease Donnot use clean Printhead Utility immediately after this process use after the Day. If it Doesnot Work Then Clean the Printhead in Hot Water Several Times.. Do not Remove Printheads Regularly From Your Printer..
I Have the Same Printer And Suffered Same Problem A Month Ago with Yellow Colour...

Black ink not printing properly on HP Officejet Pro K5400. It's a new cartridge, have tried another cartridge too but same problem.

The print head may be blocked.
Run the cleaning cycle a few times on the machine.
This can be done through the software drivers loaded on your computer.
If this does not help, you will need to replace the black print head.

OfficeJet Pro K5400...ink cartridge

Er, NO.
The answer to the above question is clearly misleading.
If you consult the documentation for your HP K5400, which can also be found online, you will find that the printer cartridge lights also blink when the print heads require replacing.
If you have replaced the cartridge and the light still flashes, this is the most common solution. Replace the print heads.
Unfortunately because the printer is badly designed, there is no way of indicating this, and you will have troubles if you attempt to get the HP Toolbox or any other diagnostic tools working.
Good luck!

Help with my k5400

It's possible you have one of the following problems:
  • Printhead is faulty
  • The printhead has expired (HP printheads have an expiry date which is written into the chip)
In both of these cases contact HP support to request a warranty replacement (but try the ideas below first obviously :))

  • The printhead hasn't been inserted properly
  • The chip contacts are dirty or soiled in some way
For these last two, try removing the printhead, cleaning the chip carefully with a cotton bud and then replacing carefully.
It's also entirely possible that you've been sold a lemon in which case you need to call the store you bought the printer from and get them to troubleshoot the issue with you and/or replace it/refund your money.

Hope that helps.

My KY yellow light is blinking. What should I do?

The k5400 is not recognizing that the ink cartridge is installed. Clean the contacts on the back of the ink cartridge and also the contacts in the K5400 printer. I always use 91% isopropyl alcohol, Hp says to use distilled water. Do let the contacts completely dry before reinstalling.
