Kenmore oven doesn't keep heat

Our Kenmore oven is only 5 years old but it doesn't keep the temp. Sometimes it gets to the set temp then goes way down. Other times it never gets to the set temp. It does both of these even though ''heat'' is showing on the display. And other times it's fine. Sears came out but it was working so he didn't do any kind of diagnostic testing. However, a few hours later, it wasn't working again. What could be wrong?

278.4088891 Kenmore wall oven. The display goes black

Hi

Sounds like the "display" part of the timer is faulty or has a bad connection. As the cooker still heats up then the "relay" is working ok.

A replacement timer will be roughly £70 - £80

Hope this helps

Oven light always on, no heat

probably the clock not set properly - you have the oven on automatic. switch off at mains, wait 5 mins and set the clock according to the manual. if the over-temp stat has operated, the oven goes dead
