PCV-RS720G Sony Vaio : BFG 5500 installed and wont display

Model : PCV-RS720G - Sony Vaio Tower

Here's my problem, i just recently installed BFG FX5500 into the tower and when i first restart the computer and plugged the monitor into the new graph.card , it had a Red Sign on in the middle of the screen that read,

Attention signal Frequency is out of range
H : 44.8 Khz
V : 85.4 hz
Please change signal timing

I have done the steps by disabling my Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family , Display adapter after plugging the chip in and then restarting computer, to where i have got that "out of range" on the screen.

The problem with the monitor showing the "signal timing" would occur after the logo, but to explain the problem even further, the display would only show on the Intel Display Adapter.. to the point to where ilogg in. -- before i logg in, i can see my cursor on the Nvidia Display Adapter -- after i logg in, i get the whole screen Without Any Icons.Although, i can browse through the computer. No games or apps are able to run exept window folders and IE . I basically had 2 screens because i would have to periodically switch the cord to the monitor back and forth with the Display Adapters . That occurs when either i have both adapters enabled, or just the Nvidia enabled.

Good advise, and thanks, but it still hasnt solved my problem. Sony Vaio's are very specific when it comes to this. I have to save some money and see if i can take it in .

Any other solutions anyone can think of will be greatly appreciated.

Hi there
Boot up in safe mode, F8 on start up, if it lets you into windows, go to the device manager and uninstall the graphics drivers, then reboot the pc, let the PC detect the new card and try install the drivers, have your driver CD in the CD drive just in case it needs it.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!!

there is a software you installed in your system that might mislead some dll to function restart. try to removed some recent software you installed, do it at once. but first try to update your antivirus and scan the system.

Windows loads then screen goes blank

Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete then when task manager comes up, look under processes, if "explorer.exe" is running end the task.

Next, go to File>run and run "explorer.exe". This should bring up your desktop and icons.

Sony VAIO PCV-RS720G drivers

I think if you download the motherboard chipset driver utility from the VAIO download page for this model:
http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=PCVRS720G&UpdateType=Everything
It will include the NIC 1394 and video controller driver.

kept trying Asus for your board details but their site was down, and also need to know socket type, but you may need to upgrade your bios to support large drives. You can find the motherboard support site here:- http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
